FWIW - It appears that Klinger dressed in women's clothing from 1972 to 1980.

I have known a few gays. Couple boy gays and a few girls gays. None have ever been in my inner, or outer circle.
My former department, there were a few. I had as little contact with them as possible. I was never nasty to them, if they needed assistance on the job, I would rush to their aid as fast as anyone else.
If I had a friend that came out down the road of life, my friendship would need to end with that person. I am not a homophone, I am not a bigot.
This is the definition of a bigot:
a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.
My feelings are not unreasonable, so therefore, I am not a bigot.
I ran into a nice young person last week. A Museum Tour Guide.
Medium to long hair. Slight build. No dyed hair. No odd clothing.
Earrings. Painted fingernails. Strong mustache. Perhaps too strong for a male in his early twenties, who often have difficulty growing more than threads. I accepted this to be common fashion and nothing more.
At any rate, not a male pretending to be female. And his voice seemed male and not forced at all.
The tour was nearly two hours, and he was very knowledgeable. He also seemed to enjoy my many historical questions; that your average visitor would never ask. Sometimes you need to know a lot to realize how much you don't know.
He had answers for most of them, and seemed intrigued even at the ones he lacked knowledge of. I made it clear I wasn't testing him; I'm ignorant of many things.
He was great guide, and was not a person who just wished to get the tour over with. For an obvious history buff, such as he, it must suck to deliver a tour to other tourists who remain glued to their phones and only occasionally grunt.
And I never questioned his fashion sense, and in return, he did not question my Tricorne nor Parrot.
But in the end, I wondered if tipping a Tour Guide was expected. But I concluded the joy of having met me was a sufficient reward
Mrs Hardened and I have had a week to think it over.
We now think the mustache was really too close to a caterpillar to be real.
We think this was a young woman doing a male cosplay.
But after more than an hour with her or him, we do see Hex's point that they may not all be angry homicidal maniacs.

I have a couple trans at my workplace, they are pretty benign. One is born female but 99% of people do not know. Super redneck in every respect, has a trashy girlfriend, facial hair, shitty male-centric tats, drinks bush, watches nascar and drives a beat up lifted truck. The only clues anyone would get is they never use a urinal, make eye contact in passing or dude nod, like a female.
Of all the things going on in the world people are wasting brain power on this?!
