Because of the big beautiful bill you may see a larger tax return this year

I’m not holding my breath but with two kids in college I could use a little extra these days. Time will tell if it’s true, but I doubt it.

I think they blow enough money and I pay enough in taxes so I’ll take what I am due back. I’ll pay about $55,000 this year in state and federal taxes so I’ve paid my fair share.

It's not even a refund, IMO. It's a sort of giving back a little bit of the stolen money type of thing.

What gets me is my kids have little jobs and are adults. They are both in college but because of why my wife and I make they do not get any assistance. Because of what we make we cannot get the tax credit for their tuition expenses and since they don’t make enough they cannot claim themselves and file taxes on their own. Also because they don’t make enough money they cannot go on their own taxes so I get penalized or they get penalized for what we make as a family. If they are adults why does my income factor into it. I cannot claim themselves on my taxes for credits.
My biggest issue is they can’t have it both ways. Either make it so the tuition can be claimed because of what my kids make or let me claim themselves because I’m supporting them. Don’t penalize me and them because they live with me.
My disclaimer is I do not expect help or support for them for college. What does aggravate me because of what we make my kids do not get subsidized loans and are paying interest on their student loan debt from day one and again neither of us can claim any of this on our taxes.
