WTH??? Really how the hell can you forget something like that? Your whole reason in being there is to present an armed presence and that's kinda hard to do so without a weapon! Did he not look in the mirror while (hopefully ) washing his hands and notice a uniform and think to himself 'hmmm something is missing'.

I'm pretty sure a service rifle is either an M4 or an M16. Or that new contraption by SIG being issued to a few. But it's not an AR15. Typos like this are why certain people read things and go, "See! The AR15 is the same thing issues to the military!", and then those who will lie and plant the seeds for fear mongering run with it to scare people who are clueless. Then we get bans on 30 round mags, bans on rifles deemed assault rifles but are not, needing a license to buy a semi-auto rifle, and having to ask permission to buy bullets.
So, we must make a very stern effort to not feed those who would destroy the Second Amendment.

Although I believe you are correct, I think you are sort of missing the sarcastic point. Any black scary rifle (with a thing that goes up) is an aSsAult RiFle unless it's in the hands of the aforementioned "highly trained".

That term was used because that’s what is in the article. Many more will read the article than this thread. I’d assume it is an M4 or M16, but the article says AR-15 so I kept it consistent with the article.
