I read that "Adam Schiff and Ruben Gallego have withdrawn their endorsements of Eric Swalwell after a sexual assault allegation surfaced against the California gubernatorial candidate.

It seems the Democrats want to reduce the number of candidates running for governor. In California they have a run off with all candidates in June and the top two face off again in November. Right now the top two are both Republican. They need to make the field smaller so at least one of the Dems gets in for November.

They want him to drop out of the race because if he stays in the top 2 vote getters might be republicans, meaning those 2 would be the only ones on the ballot. That would be a disaster for them.

In a statement Saturday, DA Alvin Bragg’s office encouraged victims to come forward.
