Solar is an interesting technology that I believe will eventually become well adapted enough and efficient enough to do humanity a lot of good. I support it being put in place either for private use or reasonable public use, as a means of furthering the technology and potential cost savings.

That being said - screw solar “farms” in New York and especially the adirondacks. That land is to be left for the pristine enjoyment of ALL and for the conversation of land. I firmly am against whatever monstrosity they are trying to build.

The day came, the panels went up, then nothing. Not a single penny in savings.
So my sister called the company. They send someone out who states "you don't have a battery backup so it won't work right".
They get the battery backup installed, at further expense. Still nothing.
Company comes out again, finds out the tie in on the side of the house was never wired into the power grid because it "was in the wrong place". Needed special permits they didn't have at the time. Took weeks to get that corrected.
Still waiting to see any savings on the power bill.
My mom is pushing my sister to call the company and tell them to rip it all out, fix any damage they caused to the roof, and pay back every cent or get sued.
We'll see where it goes.

I live in Genesee County, and solar farms going up here and there have been a thing for a while now. But recently, it has really taken off for whatever reason. It's really out of control at this point, and it's going to fuck everything up in an area such as this.

There are now two solar farms a few miles from my house. But my electric bill is higher than it's ever been, even though at this point in my life, I'm not using anywhere near the electricity that I used to. Actually, my electric bill was a lot less when solar farms weren't a thing.

Besides all that, we get a lot ton of snow here in western Genesee County. When it isn't snowing, it's sleeting, when it's not sleeting, it's raining. This kind of area makes no sense when it comes to solar farms.

There are usually 5 to 6 days a week here that consist of gray, overcast, gloomy, mostly cloudy skies, and I'm not even being sarcastic or exaggerating. There's only a day or two a week of partial sunshine here on average, and sometimes that doesn't even happen.
