I asked to not have the semiautomatic rifle endorsement and my county clerk gave it to me anyway. I’m not happy about it. Now I saw when I was checking on something for someone that they ask you this on your pistol permit recertification. What’s that have to do with my pistol permit recertification? I thought about checking no, but probably not worth the possible hassle.

Log onto the recert web site (something to the effect of troopers.ny.gov) enter your information and it'll tell you when the next one is due and if within a unspecified window, allow you to recert early.
So stupid and pointless when they already have a fuckin database lol.

A friend didn’t even know you had to do it. Was almost 2 years overdue. He just went in and recertified, and that was it.

We keep reading about people down state that loose their permit and have to go through the whole process again, all because they were late, forgot, or didn't even know they had to re-certify. It must depend on the county you are in, the closer to NYC the greater the risk? The closer to any red voting district the greater the risk? This state really has gone to shit.

That's the work of "the most dysfunctional Legislature in the Country" at work.
They had to write in the recertification and initially when setting up the system a disclosure by the Licensee of every handgun they had because Albany was so fucked up, they had very little idea who had what...Dealers have to fill out a "P-12" Form when a Handgun comes in and goes out; the State Police at one time were five years behind, and scuttlebutt from inside says they're still three years behind in processing them.
Maybe we should have to re certify our Right to Vote before every election cycle, you know, just to make sure the voter is still alive and a resident of the State.

Every politician that was involved in this BS should be required to take a remedial class on the US Constitution before they can write any laws .
I just did my recert last week. My Dad was over and I asked when his was due. He wasn't sure so we looked it up. Was due early 2025. Did the recert and went through just fine. I'm half convinced they won't give anyone a hard time if they are late because if it went to court, they would lose. Has anyone heard of someone getting jammed up because of a late recert?

I’ve heard of instances where they are now getting busted for it. I’m not sure it’s true, but it was on another forum so take it for what it is. I think there was more to it like they got in a bit of trouble and then jammed them up for this.
Naw... they've already proven they are too incompetent/malicious to keep their job.
They should be arrested, tried, convicted, and put in a glass cell on the corners of Main St. U.S.A. as an example of what NOT to do.
And for a meager $5 donation every American who wants to can push a button that zapps them with just less than lethal amounts of electricity.
If they survive 20 years of that they will be allowed to take up residence in whatever prison is closest to their original homes, there to reside for the remainder of their pathetic lives.
