  • Competition tires designed for motorsports
  • Winter-type snow tires
  • All-season winter performance tires
  • Used and retreaded tires
  • Deep tread tires
  • Tires designed for ATVs and other off-road vehicles
  • Large off-road tires for use up to 99 mph
  • Motorcycle tires
  • Temporary-use spare tires
  • Small tires with ≤13-inch nominal rim diameter
  • Limited production tires (<15,000 per year)
  • Tires sold for use on an emergency vehicle
  • High load index tires (122 or greater)
  • Tires not capable of sustaining speeds over 50 mph"

Pretty much exempts most tires.

I buy my cans in Canada
They also mandate diesel emissions and they can fuck themselves

DIL is from the LA area and she prefers fulton and upstate ny

I also think California can go fuck itself

The tires we've had on new cars are generally garbage and last 20-25K miles. When the tires need replacement, the new tires (that I chose, not the gov) generally last twice that long, and have better traction in wet and snowy weather. The fuel mileage loss, if there is one, is unnoticeable.

I read that if California made it a point, with a PSA's for people to keep their tire pressure at the proper level, it would go way further than the rolling resistance thing and would cost nothing.

I get the point of that, but people will be people, and most people don't concern themselves with that sort of thing until it's more than obvious or becomes a problem.

I've worked in towing/recovery and auto repair shops most of my life, so I'm speaking from experience. lol

But a tire at the proper pressure will have less rolling resistance than the typical over-inflated tire most people keep.
Proper tire pressure is best achieved by using the chalk test to verify you are utilizing the entire tread. Not just a narrow band in the middle, which is what happens when a tire is over-inflated.
