Why are democrats so driven to control guns?

Several reasons.

1. They personally have impulse control problems so they assume everyone does. I believe hitlery clinton once said she would shoot someone over a parking spot. Simply, they dont trust us serfs with weapons.

2. Many of the useful idiots have a mindset that is opposed to violence. Some women have even said they would rather be raped than to use a gun to defend themselves. So, because they dont want to "live in a world where they need to defend themselves" they dont want anyone owning a gun. And the politicians know this, so they are buying votes by banning guns.

3. They know that most gun owners are self defense minded and more freedom minded people and when they finally start putting people into the "camps" they dont want us being able to resist.

I don't think they really care. Politicians don't really care about the content of what they endorse, they only care about the outcome. If wearing dogshit on your head increased your chance of winning in the polls every politician would do it. People flip sides on topics all the time when it suits their needs of gaining power.

A lot of times it comes down to cowardice.

They can't defend themself, mentally.

But they aren't willing to admit their weakness.

So they want *nobody* to be able to defend themselves, so that they can pretend their problem isn't a major shortcomings.

That's where all that bullshit "better to cooperate", "better to let the professionals handle it", etc... comes from.

Because if someone else in their same circumstance can handle it themselves, that exposes the flaws.

This applies to a lot more than self defense. Basically every anti-DIY expression they push is based in that same inferiority complex. "You shouldn't fix that plumbing/electrical/car/etc yourself", because if you do it makes me feel useless.

I believe this right here doesn't get enough attention. Many democrat politicians aren't necessarily against guns, but due to brainwashing, their voters are anti gun.
The VAST majority of rabidly anti gun voters have absolutely ZERO facts to back up their thoughts, and in fact usually believe completely untrue things about guns.
If you literally had $1 for every citizen who believes AR15s are "weapons of war" you would be a millionaire.
Same for people who believe the standard AR15 is the "most powerful gun on earth".
A politician would have to be a fool to tell their rabid voters, "well actually......"

No need to look for a reason, because at this point it’s historical. Like many Democrat talismans, gun control is so deeply ingrained in their platform that there is no thought given to whether it is right or constitutional, only to how to use it for maximum influence on their voter base.

I have thought about this for a long time. I think suburban people feel safe and therefore believe no one needs a gun. They also probably believe that bullshit statistic about how the addition of a gun to a household increases the likelihood of accidental/suicidal death by a billion percent.

However my thinking has changed. I used to think the line about how liberals "only believe guns are for killing because that's what they do with them" was just a clever talking point. Now I am not so sure. I really think a lot of liberals and most progressives really have something wrong with them mentally. As we see with the recent surge in trans shooters they can't be trusted with guns. They believe guns are only for murder because that is what they do with them.
