With the new Pause on the NFA regulations will NYS buyers be able to start soon buying threaded barrel firearms for the installation of suppressors as I know NYS wont let threaded barrels in the state at this point.?? Will / Could that change with this rulling or are we still SOL with being able to maybe get suppressors for our firearms......regardless of the feds I know NYS likes to play with there own rules!!

nevermind......I didnt see this the first time but I had a feeling. Just woulda been nice to make recreation shooting a bit quieter.....but know...we might go all bananas with them there "SILENCERS".........

  • State law still applies. If suppressors are restricted in your state, this guidance does not change that. Some states only allow suppressors that are registered under federal law, and dealers may not make a transfer that violates state or local law. For that reason, ATF will continue to accept and approve Form 4s from anyone who chooses to register.

You can have threaded barrels. You can not have a semi automatic pistol or semi automatic rifle with detachable magazine with a threaded barrel. Revolvers, fixed magazine semi automatic rifles and handguns, shotguns, manually operated guns all can have threaded barrels.

So I would never do anything of the sort. It seems that if I were at a gun show in Texas I might be able to procure an ex-NFA item or two. Thoughts?

Old small block Chevrolet is generally the right thread size/pitch.

It's very hard to find an oil filter with a 1/2" thread, and none will be 1/2-28.

You could get a 1/2-13, 1/2-20, or M12 filter and run a 1/2-28 tap down the gullet though.

I think I need to make my 3/4-16 to 1/2-28 adapter soon.

I have a 1/2-28 tap, so I may just drill and tap a 3/4 inch bolt...

Like a pistol, it would have to be transferred to an FFL in your home state

Fall gun shows are coming up here in SC, private sales of suppressors are going to be through the roof. But, the sale must be between two SC residents to be legal.
