“Were We Supposed to Get These Questions Beforehand?” — Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan Confronts Democrat Mary Peltola During Alaska Senate Debate After Spotting Her Reading Prepared Answers (VIDEO)

Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan of Alaska did not hold back during Thursday night’s high-stakes “Debate for the State” in Anchorage when he spotted his Democrat opponent, former Rep. Mary Peltola, appearing to read from scripted notes or answers.
Sullivan appeared suspicious after observing Peltola consulting her notes and suggested that her responses looked suspiciously prepared.

Well, see, the way these political debates typically work is that a moderator asks a series of politically relevant questions of the debating candidates. Often, to the amazement of some, the questions likely to be posed can be easily surmised ahead of time. This is known as “prep,” short for preparation. When a candidate who did their homework is asked a question that they are expecting, and they have a measured response to, it can appear almost unfair to an unprepared opponent.

For an example of how this works when the parties are flipped from the example in the original post, see the recent NYS AG debate.

If you're well prepped, you can recite the answer fluidly from memory.

For an example, Trump's legendary "you'd be in jail" and "only Rosie O'Donnell" answers were undoubtedly conceived earlier and just filed away for the opportune time to fire them off.

If you have to rifle through your notes to find the answer one of your staffers wrote for you, that is *not* an example of being well prepped.
