A revolver don't look right unless it has a full underlug IMO.
That's why I like the Stealth Hunter so much, that big, huge, beefy shroud makes the thing look like RoboCop's alternate weapon.
Also why I continually put up with my L-Comp's repeated failings, its just such a freakin' COOL looking...
That model seems like it would take most of the kick out of the .44 Mag. Not that I'm recoil sensitive but when I am spending that kind of money pet round I want nothing but heavenly bliss every trigger pull.
I am a very nitpicky man and the color contrast between the talon grip tape and the rosewood grips bothered me so I got these black VZ grips. Undecided yet which I prefer in looks. In terms of grips and feel the VZs are outstanding and the dished out area makes hitting tge safety easier.
Well in an S&W .44 the Stealth Hunter is what I would get. Not sure what the dash range for those are, or even when production of those began. 90s I think?
Aside from looking very cool the Stealth Hunter seems like it would tame the tecoil of the .44 Magnum down to an enjoyable level.
This is what their .45 ACP can do. This is excellent ammo, very accurate. I highly recommend it for anyone that wants a little better than basic blaster ammo.
This thing is just an amazing shooting piece. And the Atlanta Arms product is very good as well, I can't expect any better than that. Also I now have 1200 rounds through it and the pistol itself has been very reliable. Occasionally I will fail to ensure tge top round in a mag is not seated...
Striker fired guns, such as those you lost here, most certainly do have locking lugs.
The barrel hood/chamber itself is the locking lug which locks into the ejection port of the slide. I'd also argue the the fixed camming underlug what interfaces with the cam block in the frame has more...
Yeah, I was looking at the Wilson combat stuff, not terribly expensive. I'll look into the spring too, I'll have to learn more about it first. Also I'll be replacing the factory polymer mainspring housing with a blued steel one too.
That particular gun is definitely on the list. I'm thinking I might plump for the Performance Center model, mostly because I think the compensator looks cool.
I have read you might need to go to a heavier recoil spring for reliable function in those and if that doesn't work people claim...
Ah, I know Johnson's Country Store well, I was raised in Lockport.
As others have said Johnson's will only be able to offer a fraction of what the gun is worth. Gunbroker or such like is her best bet.
I imagine my Colt is post CZ production. None of the issues I have heard of their 1911s having seem to be present on mine. Machining is all good, no voids in the MIM parts, fit and finish seems good, function is very good and reliability so far is fine. Accuracy seems to be outstanding. Now...
Ruger? Really? I thought Rugers were at least spared tge QC woes that have afflicted every other domestic manufacturer.
At least I am having great luck with Colt so far.
I took a hands off approach this time. I called it in initially, pointed out this would be the second time it was back, lady on the phone was sympathetic and concerned, saw the service record of it and directed me to coordinate its return with my ever helpful LGS. Then I ignored it it for 3...
Welp, I hadn't bothered to report on this as frankly I'm over it, this L-Comp drama, but a few months ago my wayward S&W began clicking instead of banging again and it progressing to the point where it was 90% clicks to 10% bangs. Some chambers it seemed refused to fire altogether. A month ago...
I have gotten .45 in the quantity of a muchness.
I ordered a 400 round lot of their 9mm and found it to have above average accuracy at only a small premium over regular FMJ blaster ammo.
Yes, I have indeed been shooting the snot out of the Colt and I intend to continue doing so.
I have hit 1,000 rounds with the Colt today. I have had 2 malfunctions both failures to feed due to bullets nosdiving on the magazine follower and both times it was with the factory magazine.
I consider this level of reliability wholly satisfactory, surprising even.
What better thing to do on this sunny holiday?
Been awhile since I shot the Shield, still a hoot to shoot. I'd say the recoil impulse of the Shield shooting +p defensive loads is quite similar to the 1911 with .45s.
Meanwhile the Carry Comp feels like easy mode with an aimbot mod on.
Inconsistent today. But the Colr CAN stack em in there if I do my part.
Shot @15yds with 230gr Speer Lawman.
It is a very fun and satisfying gun to shoot though with 8 rounds on tap I always feel as the fun had stopped just as it got started.
There is a nice linear progression to the .45s, from standard to +p to 45 Super and finally .460 Rowland yiu get about 150 fos more per step. 45 Super therfore is essentially .45 ACP +P+. The brass is somewhat thicker particularly at the web area. Any standard 1911 in 45 ACP can be...
A 3rd gen S&W automatic is under consideration. Particularly one of those 4006 Tactical models the California Highway Patrol used. Those things are sweet. Like @dsdmmat said earlier, 2011s are oversaturated. The market might welcome an updated version of some legacy designs.
A tricked out 1911 in .38 Super would be pretty cool except that cartridge is all but dead now it seems.
And again Ilament the unjust death of the .356 TSW which could have been a 9mm Para usurper.
@dsdmmat did Para Ordnance ever do a double stack .38 Super? THAT would be a very cool gun...
Whatever I get next I think it will be different from what I have now. So a poly/striker in 9mm is not very likely to ve selected next. However a 10mm might. I do have a an M&P 10 on the list and also a USP which would be a good companion to the 1911. I am also toying with the idea of having...
I have an 11 peg hangun rack in my safe and currently own an M&P Carry Comp, and M&P shield Plus, a S&W 340PD, a S&W Wesson 586 L-Comp a Ruger Mk IV Hunter and now the Colt Competition 1911.
The Mk IV doesn't fit on the pegs and goes in 1 of 4 nylon holster pouches hung on the safe door. This...
I think the factory blue grips ARE from VZ.
Or at least VZ offers a Colt Branded G10 grips that looks awfully similar.
I replaced them with those Houge rosewood grips but I also ordered some balck VZs with the golf dimple pattern and the fancy screws. Black on black can either look professional...
Hammer cock goes click-clack, safety goes snick snick snick snick, trigger goes snap. A most fidget worthy gun.
Also the Talon Grip on the front strap is a transformative addition
I have 500 rounds of Speer Lawman sitting at home and 1k coming in from Atlanta Arms. I am going to be shooting the Colt a great deal while the price of .45 is as low as it is.
I also have a holster, belt and mag pouches coming in eventually too
And here I thought shooting my 1911 would be an occasional indulgence! That's not much more than 9mm. I have 1k more rounds coming from Atlanta Arms now.
The internal mechanism is completely different. Some would claim superior to the original but tgere are MIM parts involved. The new Pythons are not as prone to going out of time however.
All in all the new Pythons are very nice guns however one looks at it.
The model @dsdmmat suggested above would be a great option however given your parameters I would try to hunt down a somewhat older production 586 L-Comp. It is a 7 shot L Frame in a matte blue finish and a 3" ported barrel. A Performance Center model It was introduced in 2000 and has been in...
