The more I think about this the more it bums me out. They are a Rochester institution. Yea, I know there are other independent shops but if they go under, it's not good.
I believe this - but do you have a citation for it (like a number for the bill they voted on)? I'd like to be able to have that fact at hand in conversations.
Helluva drive from Pheonix!
Some have been accused of being a little off-putting, but I would disagree with your take that they are incompetent.
I have a DW Pointman 9 and I just love it. Amazingly accurate and beautiful. I also had ECO but sold it to fund something else. The observation someone made earlier about the DW 1911's fitting a niche between a low end production 1911 and an STI or Wilson was right on. When I bought mine I...
With respect to the safe act, you can, you just need to have it shipped to an FFL that will accept it. And not rape you on what they charge to accept it.
Nice work Cgrutt. I know you're downstate, but maybe you should consider advertising around (and traveling to) the finger lakes. Lots of folks have second homes on the lakes and are beholden to the locals, who aren't always the best or reasonably priced. Just a thought.
That's great news about adding more bays - that's what caused the backups when I was there. I will definitely give them another try. I think they are holding monthly steel matches.
May I ask how long the match lasted? I shot a steel challenge there previously and what should have been a 2-3 hour match lasted 6 hours. I think they were overwhelmed with entrants and didn't know how to handle it. I hope they are running the matches better - I'd love to see them be successful.
Indoor range: 3 hours - half hour drive each way, two hours at the range
Outdoor: only a 5 minute drive and two hours there.
Weird thing is I always wish I brought more ammo. You'd think I'd learn.
Interesting and fair perspective, and caused me to revisit why I was annoyed with them. What you say is the truth, but what bugged me then and still does is the "boy just wait until <some date> and you guys are really going to be amazed" posts that kept coming and coming. A lot of promises and...
Yep. Kids are adults now and no lead pipes in the house or lead paint, so if mine trends downward I doubt I'll suggest they get tested.
Right now I have convinced myself its a combination of coming in contact with the residual lead dust on the indoor range attaching itself to things I...
I'm guessing he had nothing to do with it. I bet it's a result of some nanny state bullshit law that got passed that the health department has to know about certain test result values. He's a good doc, knows about my hobbies and is not an anti.
I don't reload. I do help work the shoots though - taping targets after they're scored, etc, so I am in the range after the shooter shoots. I think it's from breathing what's floating around in the air (lead from primer explosion and from whatever got vaporized from the back of the bullet)...
About a year ago I started shooting USPSA - and got addicted. Outdoors in the summer, and since we're in WNY, indoors in the winter.
This past summer I heard some fellow shooters talk about getting their lead levels checked, and heard a couple of them say that their docs said to scale back on...
I have an SXP Defender, but not the black shadow. That is pretty cool looking!
Anyway, I've shot mine a few times but haven't put it into service as a home HD gun yet. It's fine for what it is, and haven't had any issues (but don't have many rounds down the barrel). Another thing on...
Unfortunately, they are not the last word. It would be up to the DA to indict or not based on the penal law. So some NYSP officer might choose not to charge someone, which would be great, but without something to point to in the penal law that says this is okay, one would be rolling the dice...
I just read through the penal law and couldn't find anything that supports what you are saying. I really want it to be true. Can you point me at where it says this?
If you don't answer the judges question, he/she could hold you in contempt of court, which could include a fine and or jail time. Not saying I agree with the whole mess, just answering your question. :D
I have heard the same things you are talking about with respect to him, they are no surprise to me. You might want to use some of your research skills to take a closer look at former Judge Marks. You might change your opinion.
This looked really promising:
SHOTMAXX Shot Timer
But it is now discontinued with a newer version in the works. I came close to buying one, guess I am glad I didn't.
My bud and I used one of the iphone apps over the weekend, and once we got it calibrated for our pistols, it worked pretty well. The nice thing about the apps is that you can get results electronically and track progress easier (vs manually writing it down and entering it).
