Anyone pulling any fur? I haven't been able to lay and steel down this season but I've been watching frontier and it's making me miss skinning critters
Annoyed as hell right now. Got out for a couple hours. Was making my way back to the truck and saw 2 doe. Picked the bigger of the 2 and laid my backpack down and laid prone resting on it. She turned broadside and I shot. Both ran to my left and I figured she was down just out of my sight. I was...
I used a harbor freight electric winch mounted on the ceiling of the garage this year. I always used a ratcheting pulley in the ceiling and it worked fine but last trapping season I bought the winch to make skinning easier on my back. Was nice to be able to raise and lower with a button.
Was up at camp for opening day, just got back an hour or so ago. Only saw doe, no doe tags and antler restrictions in that area. Will try and get my supply of meat around home over the next week or so.
Well I will share yesterday afternoons story. It has been a long time since I have not taken a deer by this late in the season, my "game" freezer is empty and my kids chow through food like savage animals so I decided I would take out the crossbow yesterday. I got rid of my compounds and was...
No reason to regret it. I enjoy hearing about everyone else's success and trips afield....
On a seriously serious note how about we keep this thread on topic for the rest of the year.
Well I took off today and went out this am. Had a strange encounter. Was ground hunting with one of them wounding sticks and spotted a spike about 50 yards ahead of me. I took a knee to ponder my plan of attack as there was some thick stuff as well as a stream with lots of mud between us. He...
Points are different from aging. I've seen tons of small 7 and 8's. There were not mature deer by any means or trophy deer to many standards.....plus again, because you like antlers why should I pass up a deer?
But you said you are for antler restrictions. What you really want is for people to be able to on the fly age a deer before shooting it. That's one of the most unrealistic things possible.
Riddle me this, you want big bucks but want let the "scrub" spike and forks pass to grow up and be 6 or 8's. But in reality you are passing smaller antler Gene's on. The young 6's and small 8's get popped and do not get to mature and pass the genes.
A truly mature doe is one of the hardest animals to hunt....Do you have a good recipe for those antlers @Yeti ? You are probably one of the genius people who favor the antler restrictions.
My biggest concerns with the xbow are walking with it cocked and loaded and sneaking through brush and briars something catching the string....Also when treestand hunting, I remove the bolt and raise the bow which is a little nerve racking.
Possible liver? I've hit liver and got a lot of dark red blood, if left they get woozy and lay down to die. If pushed they can get a good distance before they die. Where abouts are you hunting?

They are great
So again just to be sure you post the expert opinion that after say 500 round you will start to see issues. You bought a barrel with roughly 900 rounds shot and expected it to be mint? The 280 has a max pressure of 60,000 I believe. If I am not mistaken a 243 is also listed at 60k max and that...
Ah, thought you meant me AB......
Again if your research says after 500 rounds you can expect to see a bore with those things, he listed a 900 round count, and you scrubbed it bare and saw that. Riddle me your answer. WTF over
@SteyrAug
So you managed to sell the gun less the barrel for a profit all while keeping the barrel in question. Seems to me it was worth it for you and you must have gotten a pretty good deal. So all in all you should probably stop being a fucking asshole in general. Or dont I guess it's...
I see why you feel cheated but this is the issue with an internet deal. You opted to buy it without being able to inspect it before hand. He never claimed the bore was good, he said it had roughly 900 rounds through it and according to your research/ master barrel maker after 500 rounds you can...
I haven't sorted any of my crap yet. Last few seasons shitty prices I'm not as motivated plus time is scarce right now for me. I do need to get everything cleaned up and organized so I can set eventually
Tell tale truth is my job is in the shipping and recieving field. Plus I deal with snow removal st work so am constantly opening packages and things like bags of ice melt and stuff of that nature. So a box cutter is always in my pocket. This one is nice because it's small size.
