My C &R license is up for renewal. With the recent prices of this stuff does anyone have an opinion on renewing? I don’t know if it’s worth is I haven’t used it in a few years and I feel like there’s some thoughts out there that having it in NY is pointless anyway because some dealers won’t ship...
Had a spike and two does in front of my son this pm. He passed on them, easy shot but he’s holding out for one we’ve been seeing that’s substantially better than a spike… I told him if he wanted to take one to go for it but he’s set on a big boy at least untill muzzleloader, then if there’s no...
It’s different when your land is your livelihood, sure someone can just move to another house, if you go to work somewhere else. But when your family has spent generations getting land fertile it’s different. Hard to understand for 97% of people but if you know you know.
Now I sound like a “nut...
I’m pretty sensitive to the eminent domain subject. I don’t believe in building permits, or any of that sort of bs. Someday it might bite me in the ass but I really can’t subscribe to that crap. I get what your saying and don’t take it the wrong way, but this is a sore subject for me personally...
Guys if you want garlic seed let me know. 8.00$ a pound I’ll pay shipping. As long as you don’t need a crazy amount I have probably a hundred pounds to spare. I think. I’m planting mine first but pretty sure if some of y’all need a few pounds I can help you out
Oops … f’ em that’s just BS I don’t believe in building permits on your own property for personal use. I can see it ( kind of ) for apartments or business where the public or employees have access. Otherwise hard pass
All y’all gotta stop growing zucchini in your gardens, that shit ain’t selling good at all! I got a cooler full that’s gonna end up as compost. My second field is about to hit off in about 5 days. I’d usually keep picking off the first but I’m gonna just bush hog it.
not even going to plant a...
It’s nice to keep them in a raised pen on wire so the shit falls on the ground, then you can scoop it up and add it to the garden.
I’ve had them before just for fun.
I wouldn’t be afraid of chickens either, screw the “man” it’s your property, if your talking meat birds you’ll probably have them...
Just watched them build a 10 acre solar farm about a mile from me. Just pounded metal posts into the ground and mounted the panels. That could be reclaimed a heck of a lot easier than a 10 unit development … not being argumentative just sayin.
Plus once shtf I know where to get some solar hahahah
Housing developments are a bigger threat to farmland here in the HV
Once there’s been a house with septic, well, paved driveway, dug basement, road drains, curbing .. that’s never gonna be farmed again.
Anytime. It’s a bit of a hike for you but if your in the area let me know. When I’m in the thick of it I don’t have much time to give a tour but if I know your coming I can make myself available. Late afternoon (after 6 ) mornings are a nonstarter no matter what, just too much going on. It’d be...
Look at the first four plants. I forgot to turn on the fertilizer when I started this row. This is healthy soil lots of organic matter lots of earth worms, pretty much perfect. This is what happens without fertilizer. Can I get tomatoes off it ? Yes! Can I get enough for people I don’t know ? NO!!
Short answer.. no
long answer honestly we should all take a break for a year or two but I’m afraid there’s always a few that would cash in on the huge increase in prices. Ppl need to wake the fuck up and stop messing with the farmers …
I can grow enough food for me and my friends and for...
We made about 40 quarts of spaghetti sauce, and 40 jars of potato leak soup/broccoli cheddar/and butternut bisque.
Came out great. The reason for the big canner is since your running a batch might as well be able to put two layers in at a time it’s very time efficient that way
I did 4 trays of pealed garlic … man that was pungent!
I ran it through the food processor and put it in ball jars with an O2 absorber.
then I took the rack out of the FD machine and put the jars in. I ran the vacuum pump for 10-15 sec and it sealed the jars like a champ!
Have friends with 3 kids, had a really nice house and cashed in last year. Big payday. Been living in an apartment ever since cause can’t afford the houses they want. That rent is gonna eat up all that profit real fast… bad move imho
Back when the “freeze dried alcohol” was a thing it wasn’t really freeze dried it was somehow encapsulated 90 proof that you added water to ( or juice or whatever liquid) I know this because I wanted to freeze dry Tito’s and researched it
We were told to expect at minimum 1,000.00$ a ton for fertilizer this spring.
But most likely more .
For reference last year our average cost was 415.00$
not growing any field corn and cutting back on some of the more labor intensive crops. I personally hate growing less as I can usually move...
