2k per month? Keep going. By me apartments are going for $1,300-$1,800. I know a lady who rents a room in her house for $600/month. They have their shared bathroom and a shared kitchen, but nothing fancy at all.
here is a quick search. $3,000 for a small studio, next is $3,800, but many are $5,000-$7,000/month.
