My bet will be it's someone who was affiliated with that church then got corrupted by the woke mind virus.

Probably a crazy and that was his target by him being identified as the Iraq war vet, but some vets are leftists. He’s dead so we may never know. Maybe he went to the church and they asked him to leave and this is the result

Comments also suggest the man had been shot in the head during his Iraq tour and had a history of mental issues.
Trying to sort through the chaff of "Trumptard" and "MAGA republican" and "the American flags show it's yet another right-wing lunatic" is not easy.

Folks ... It is getting hard to believe what one reads . The left desperately wants these shooters to be MAGA supporters. With this AI generated stories today being foist upon us ... Anything is possible.
Within 24 hours we have 2 ex soldiers with PTSD involved in mass shootings .... Could one shooting push another over the edge ?

Supposedly the guy in MI did it because of some dispute with his wife.
I'm not sure one act pushed the 2nd over the edge. I think it is more just a coincidence that both perps have similar backstories.
Though I do think the "active story" is being broadcast deliberately to demonize those perceived to be Trump supporters and 2A supporters.
