Back in high-school we didn't have a right to wear any shirt except the one McDonald's issues.

Work uniforms are a long established right for an employer. You have a right to free speech, you do not have a right to a job with that particular employer.

It's also widely accepted for more general uniform requirements. If an employer can say "no jeans except on Friday" they should certainly be able to say "no political messages that will piss off half our customers".

I worked at Home Depot for a couple years in my youth. They had a dress code as well as a personal grooming policy. I remember they didn’t allow facial piercings among other things. I remember employees being reminded of the dress code here and there for shirts that didn’t meet dress code. And it wasn’t because of any political writing on the shirts. They used to give out Home Depot shirts and encouraged you to wear those. Not sure why they would waste resources on a bullshit complaint. Every place I’ve ever worked has had a dress code of some type.

NYS work harassment laws .. now .. don't pick on my hair style .. that's work harassment . and a bunch more BS now in it ..

but what if the work place made you promote and sell BLM charity bracelets or even some other organization you don't support to the customers and you refused to ??

Ps .. the dept i work in .. they only pay and supply the uniform shirt .. i have to buy the pants in the right style and color and non slip shoes too..
if you have a dress code ,, you should pay for it all .. how i think .. and wash it too ..

the mechanics at work its all free .. shirt , pants .. washing , repairs .. company pays for it ..

We had a POC where "black lives matter " mask (when it was mandated). I counted to see how long it lasted. It was longer than 3 weeks. The management on that shift were mostly POC. Wheres my white privilege?
