A cop who is looking for traffic violations isn’t going to do what you are accusing cops of doing on every car stop. He might look for the same indicators on every stop. The NY law is different than search and search. Search and seizure procedures were created by the courts primarily., not legislative branch.
Remember it’s an ammo box. Not a plain green box. It’s not even a dry box. And yes people can use them for other purposes but it’s still an ammo box.

Tell you what. Take a 50 cal ammo box and ask a friend without giving him a clue of its contents or this conversation and ask him, what do you think is in the box? Most people will say ammo.
