Hochul signs legislation eliminating the term inmate.

[Saltwater60]

Wow super important and I’m sure this will make a dramatic change.

Gov. Hochul signs legislation changing the term "inmate" for those in the prison system

On Monday, Governor Hochul signed a bill removing the term "inmate" from state laws, replacing it with "incarcerated individual".

If I was a CO, they would get called CONVICT. I suppose they are now to be referred to as "Long term guests of the State" or maybe "Non-mobile members of society" or perhaps "Not yet ready for self regulation"

All this touchy-feely bullshit is causing the decay of society to quicken.

This has actually been a thing for many months now. I am sure that the good guys in the jails and prisons are still using whatever words they did in the past to describe these people in Orange and green.

[Jmac00]

they're convicts, and inmates, period. you can change the name, you can move the goalposts, the answer is still the same

[kev74]

How about involuntarly-gays?

[Darth]

Not a new thing. Been that way for a long time now.

So dumb, even the "people under our care" tell me it's the stupidest shit they've heard, and do not like the term.

They say the term I/I "humanizes people."

Do you know of any non-human inmates?

[Acer-m14]

can we still call them jail birds

[meketrefe]

Jailster is more fashionable.

Most zoos are populated by them, why do you ask?

Just call them civilizationally challenged.

Soon I fear we will be paying them for their stay and installing saunas.

I like "convicted criminal" better anyways.

Good, let them be like the rest of us. Maybe will give them some perspective.

Jesus, its called concealed for a reason.

[Deplorable Me]

This is like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

[Dr. Evil]

Maybe we should call illegal immigrants inmates and inmates illegal immigrants.

[ManualF150]

Jesus, its called concealed for a reason.

They have installed a special weapons detection system. I'm assuming it's almost like an airport X-ray machine, but without the X-rays... could be something similar to a low power MRI or something.

Another reason I am not going to the NYS fair.

Waste of money and resources........

[Bigfoot]

Words have meaning.

So Hochul should sit down and shut up.

The way she is blatantly and knowingly violating our constitutional rights she should be an inmate.

Her eyebrows should get life with no parole.

[tirwin1]

Glad to know all the big problems have been solved so they have nothing better to do than this nonsense.

[Bigfoot]

The reason I post the way I do when it comes to Kathy "back to muskets" Hochul.

Is because I can't take her seriously. She would not be Governor if she didn't have yet another stroke of luck. Her whole career has been that way. It's like she has a golden horseshoe up her ass or something.

So I just mock her at every chance...

[Day444]

Guess she doesn't want that term used when she and some of these other dumbascarps are thrown in Jail/Prison!
