Back at least that far there was a Gun Show Vendor that sold "reconditioned" Crosman/Benjamin Air Rifles, Pellets, etc. that came from Factory...He had good prices; he told me "you can't beat the prices 'cuz I get everything right there (in Bloomfield)"
Too bad, Airguns are fun and a great introduction to shooting, marksmanship, and even serious competition.
FWIW: If you sign up they'll send e-mails a few times a year with special promotions, and invariably have "Sales" going on all the time.

I use pellet guns as supplemental for my regular arms training.

It saves a lot of money and it works way better than those laser targets.

And I've used air guns for putting food on my table.

I really wish dumbass NYS would allow folks to use .45 and .50 caliber airguns to take deer. I was down in SC, I went hunting for deer with my .50 cal PCP, and I got myself a nice buck. 90% of America lets folks hunt deer with big bore airguns.

NY really screws over convicted Felons who've served their time by prohibiting them from using either a Muzzle loader or Air Gun from harvesting Deer...not like there isn't a shit-ton of them, and while deadly, they aren't exactly offensive weapons, besides IF they were going to re-offend, I doubt a muzzle loading gun is going to be their choice of weapon.
I DO understand the premise of punishing those who've committed felonies and there are Judicial Reliefs available, but the State goes too far in both the wrong direction when it comes to crimes and punishments.

On a related tangent: Take a look at published velocities and bullet weights of "Hunting" Air Rifles and compare them to Pistol cartridges; you may have to re-evaluate your thoughts on what's "big enough"

147gr. 357 at 800fps is spot on with a .38 Special semi-wadcutter. and yet writers and successful Hunters ooh and aah over the "hitting power" of these beasts.

Yea, it's funny talking to air gun afficionadoes about air rifle power. They get very enthusiastic over what I'd consider meager power factors for even a black powder weapon, nevermind modern smokeless arms.

Still, with good bullet selection and marksmanship training, it's doable and ethical. It's a helluva lot easier to get good enough to place the shot well on a deer with a .357 air-rifle than it is with a .357 Mag revolver, but the latter is legal in NY and the former isn't.

The ".357" air rifles are ballistically equivalent to a .38 Special, but it's not likely someone would Deer Hunt with a .38. That said, I have a H&R Handi-Rifle I reamed to .357 Max and it's dead on to 100yds and super fun to plink with using cheap lead target reloads...hundred years back, most of the general use guns were small caliber of black powder pressures. (32-20, 25-20, 38-40, 30-30, etc.)

I'm not big into Air Rifles, although I ended up deep in a PCP Rifle that I don't shoot very much as it's heavy and tedious to load the Magazine...accuracy is good, power is there, ethically acceptable for small game/varmints at back yard distances.

I don't know what petitions one would have to bring before the Court or the process for doing so, but generally I would be in favor of allowing Felons to be reviewed for the return of their Right to Hunt Game with a (limited) Gun, Black Powder, or Compressed Air if they could demonstrate the restraint and character to do so without being a societal risk.

Sound suppressors are not regulated for airguns and simple to get. That's another benefit. I shoot air rifle with sound suppressor in my basement every day. Good training for my sport.

Typical NY.
Either they are rehabilitated, and therefore should have ALL of their rights, or their not, so they shouldn't be out in public.

But, since NY likes to release criminals and lock up law-abiding folk, I'm not really surprised.
