Eminent domain might occur to make the Micron plant happen in Clay, NY

[Brawny71]

........DC itself was built using ED.

If ever a validation for repeal.

I hear all you say. Widening roads for public safety, flooding precautions, power station to better serve; yes. A plant owned by a private company which will employ a few for how long…. Common good? The political need for optics for an already failed effort with no protection is the force behind this. There is a lot of State abandoned land in Masena and Ogdensburg. Bunch of abandoned factories in Watertown. No ED or destruction of legacy family land needed. But the optics and the political sway….

[Brawny71]

Pretty sure the "Right" to own land is in the Constitution.

Until “They” throw a….Trump card

[spat]

Slavery in the US only lasted 89 years..

Which is pretty close to a century. Certainly within rounding distance.

[Defilade]

Until “They” throw a….Trump card

You mean a bullshit illegal grey area.

[Saltwater60]

ED is written into the Constitution.

How do you think roads get widened and built?.

As an engineer I once had to visit a farm that was split in two near Little Falls by the T-way construction in 1953.............I had to tell the Land owner, still living on the smaller residual portion that it was all over.........new T-way interchange @ Little Falls demanded it be taken by ED.....

He was going to shoot me but before I could move, an NYSP trooper drove up , sent by my boss to potentially cool down a hot situation......no one was shot, we demolished his home and barns...... took it all. He was paid well..................this is 1974.

The entire Federal Interstate System of Highways thru the country and in the cities were acquired/built by ED........ same with all Military bases and most airports.

It is right if it is for the public good. We do not live in a Libertarian Republic, like during the Articles of Confederation..far from it..by vote of the people in 1790............DC itself was built using ED.

Much different than a private company getting stolen land stolen by the government thruways benefit all but not this. I feel for the guy forced off his land as he chose that for a reason regardless of compensation. I can tell you my house is unique and if forced out of it it would be very difficult and possibly impossible to find a comparable house to mine. Think about what’s involved in moving these days. I chose my house and neighborhood for a reason.

The US Constitution would have to be modified by Consitutional amendment.

All land was owned by the gov't...............in NYS for example, patents..i.e. land ownership rights were granted to the victors. I live on the old Washington Tract.
Subsequent sales of land from the Gov't granted Patents can be traced down to today's deeds here.

Land grants in the Territories, to Railroads, and other Corporations, and the old Land Rush days to claim a section given from the Gov't for a pittance is fact. The railroads sold off excess land to their needs and the midwest is mostly laid out in square sections.

All Land comes from the government..was not created or claimed by any early settler, unless the Fed or State Gov't said so.

And the Government was created by the people. Deeds are basically rental agreements. It's who owns the Land Title.

[IrishMick]

There were high court cases for a lot of things that have since been overturned.

Nothing is permanent except death, and taxes are taking a close second.

Remember.....There is nothing more permanent than a temporary government program!

Who funds the government so whose land is it? Not there’s and it was sold to the people and they own it now. Just because law or rule is on the books doesn’t mean you need to act it out.
Again there is a huge difference between taking land for a thruway or large green space that anyone can enjoy and a government stealing land for a private business that the government is giving them tons of money for. All this is is Biden and the democrats penis swinging contest to say we brought chip manufacturing back to the USA. Yea chip manufacturing is important but since we’re doing this we will let Taiwan fall to china.
The constitution doesn’t need to be changed to leave this land in this families hands all that needs to happen is for the government to leave them alone.

Yeah and when you buy/sell a home you need to pay the government to put that deed in your name. I had to $9.00 per thousand to change the name on the deed when I sold my last house.

[Zerex]

Ignorance, does not stand in the light of facts.

In Conus, the Kings first owned the land.........France, Spain, England, Netherlands....................
The Republic here, established Patents............then the land began to be sold off..............

Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett only owned land with a deed from the above process.............
Texas became a Republic and then sold off land.......

Hoping this is as much a sweeping success as Solar Shitty was in South Barffalo. Another wise investment of taxpayer dollars brought to you by the brightest business and financial minds to grace the surface of our planet. You know when a business decides to settle in NY, while the rest are running away like a fat kid after an ice cream truck, there's going to be some anal gratification to go along with the oral.

The Micron Plant will exist tax free without any property or State Income taxes for decades.............only the employees will pay all the normal taxes.....................and I suspect that the jobs will not be as high paying as predicted.............. due to automation,,,,,,,,,,,Skynet will reproduce itself.

So, democrats want to allow a big corporation to pay less taxes than a teacher, fire fighter, or factory worker?

Sounds like a threat to our, you know the thing.

[ManualF150]

Don't forget what the Halbritter and the Oneida Indians... all that land they took, no longer getting taxed. Should all be illegal.

[tony]

Big business moves in and gets huge tax breaks for the time period and moves out when the breaks expire. Happened in Troy with Garden Way I believe. The residents are left holding the "EMPTY BAG". In typical NY fashion...

[Zerex]

SCOTUS decided that the Indians waited to long to get their land back free... LACHES..............but could expand their holdings by BUYING UP THE LAND, which many tribes have done.........

Taxes not due on any of it..............that is why the Res has its own police............you almost never hear about the gamblers who committ suicide in the parking garages..........sovereign land.

Indians are the only sovereign citizens...........kind of...................still subject to Fed Law and many state laws.
Indians are mentioned in the US Constitution, as are slaves and others like Militia members.

You outta read it.

Today on the radio:
Micron deal hits snag, site planning not meeting wet lands state laws.
There goes all the jobs,
Guess the state will take the land when this falls through.

How can you make a multibillion deal and not know the rules?

The "Rules" are for the little guys, you know, the one's the Democrats claim to be for?

They will change or get around the rule for this. For you and me nope. Unless this is an out but I smell a rat.

Reminds me of what happened over yonder down the NYS Thruway over at a little town called Marcy, NY... Alain Kaleros.

Oh, and FTW, I recently found out that they let go of the Albany site this past summer.

Corruption at the finest.

Does it surprise me? Nope.

When the people start actually standing up and doing something about this, the rats will get whatever they want.

That and the requirements of the Union and regulatory. We wonder why no one can manufacture or produce in the once leader of the world anymore.

Unions claim to be for the little guy individual as well.

How is Intel's $20B Ohio One Chip Plant: On Track or Derailed?

Outlook of what's going on with Intel's $28 billion Ohio One chip plant, is the project still on track or derailed?

constructionreviewonline.com

Ohio gets 2 big plants, Arizona 3 Fed Money to Intel.............................big money, no problems.............NYS/Micron deal was a scam from the start.

They won't break ground for at least another year. Syracuse is a sucker town.

Here’s why Micron is running behind in New York, and what it means to historic project

Other chip makers who won federal funding are already building in the U.S.

They're running behind because it is a poor plan. Once they announced it, the politicians already got their boost. Union involved now means that plant can't compete with overseas costs and deliveries, construction "Plans" were crap. You won't see this stand up. Even the construction is mired in union hurdles.

Why do these companies insist on building on wetlands and recreational lands when the Syracuse area has so many vacant industrial lands available? Think of all the industries that are no longer operating and convince me that the properties are unsuitable for building a new factory. Carrier, GM, New Venture, Miller (in Fulton), Allied Chemical. I'm sure that there are many others that no longer exist that would be large enough for projects like these. Most already have most of the infrastructure to get started in short order such as Power, Water, Sewer, Transportation (both Rail and Highway). Why aren't these companies encouraged to use existing sites? Amazon recently built a large distribution operation, not on an existing site, but on the site of Liverpool Golf Course. Why? For all of you not familiar with the area, Clay is sort of in Bumfuck, Nowhere. The highway access isn't great and the traffic out there is already pretty congested. I'm firmly convinced that the state being all involved in this project that I'll probably be dead before one chip is produced in Clay, NY. The government seems incapable of organizing a circle jerk in a round room.

Two words; clean up. Also tax break for a “New” build. Clean up (environmental) for each of those sights required by over regulation.

[Saltwater60]

So you can’t legally build on wetlands from what I understand so this shouldn’t pass but NYS wants the tax mo who’s they will make it happen. If it was you building a house it would never happen
In the town of Clay, however, the 1,400-acre site where Micron proposes to build four massive factories remains heavily forested and brimming with wetlands. Micron’s only presence there are several plywood signs.
