Anybody in a position to "tax the rich" is rich themselves, dem or rep. Does anyone really believe they will raise their own taxes?

Maybe but not sure how tariffs raise taxes because tariffs and taxes are different. I know there is a lot of talk about the tariffs increasing revenues in the federal government but it would be how I said it would work by increasing business sales and onshoring. Products made here get corporate taxes but the article spins it a different way saying a new tax bracket would be made for those making 2.5 million and earnings off traded stocks held for less than 3 years would be taxed and treated as income. This I understand slightly and on the base principle but not in-depth because I’m not a stock trader. I can see this and if they cash out the stock and have the money then they should be taxed on it as income, but I’m not sure if they sell Apple stock at a $200 price per share increase but then immediately sell that stock and buy more with the proceeds.
From the article but I don’t see the press conference and Trump says a lot of things then changes his mind or is playing people so who knows. This doesn’t seem to be the same as Canada being 51 though.
President Donald Trump reportedly asked House Speaker Mike Johnson this week to create a new tax bracket for people making over $2.5 million, the New York Timesreported and Fortune confirmed.
Trump is also considering ending a loophole that allows finance professionals like hedge-fund and private-equity managers to pay lower tax rates than ordinary workers, and taxing stock buybacks by corporations, the Times reported. The decidedly populist proposals appeal to the MAGA base, which often stresses the party’s responsibility to working-class people.

Tariffs *are* taxes.
The definition of a tariff is a tax on imported goods.
The ironic thing is that the left has been screaming to increase taxes on big businesses forever, and almost all tariffs are paid by big business.
But suddenly *now* they acknowledge that big business will just pass any taxes on to the consumer.

Fact is, this wouldn't have had a snowball's chance if this was put before the legislature: Every single representative with pharmaceutical companies in their portfolios would have squashed it before it even got out of committee.
These people don't give a rat's ass about anything but their own personal fortunes.

Maybe but then it would have been a great point to point out because the left has been crying about this for a long time.

Yes I put that poorly and many consider tariffs taxes. I look at them differently but you’re not wrong about how tariffs can be looked at. I meant in this situation and what Trump is talking about doing. They want to do a new tax bracket so I considered this different than collection through tariffs.
An emergency edict should be created and enforced that every person over 12 years old must carry an official ID.
Then send out the trucks and begin filling them up.
Off to the camps, where they will be fed, housed, and receive health care - temporarily. And have their DNA harvested.
They will have sufficient time to provide proof of legal residency in the USA or their home country. Then off they go.
Trump is already signing deals with other countries to accept these illegals.
Any sympathy I once had has been extinguished.

Ugh... in addition to the obvious historical realities, "show me your papers" is also a violation of the fourth amendment.
Furthermore, no one should need ID to simply exist.

Sorry man that’s way too far for me. That’s way too much control and power given to the government. You allow this what’s next? Safe inspections on guns, ammo counts, reeducation camps for voting for Trump? This is a bridge we do not want to cross.
If we fail to act now, and deal with some temporary pain, America will be lost.

This, right here.
What have the republicans actually done since gaining a majority in the House & Senate?
No investigations into the covid abuses...
No arrests of corrupt politicians (of EITHER side)...
No laws passed restoring the Rights of Americans the Democrats stole...
In fact, one of the only things I've heard they have done is block bills that have been submitted to restore Rights (such as removing silencers from the NFA).
2026 is going to be a bloodbath for the repubs. They are literally handing everything over to the dems in the mid-terms. The fence sitters who helped the repubs win are going to abandon them in droves due to their inaction and stupidity.

While I agree the republican party has gotten real good at snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory I also don’t expect the ability to do a whole lot with majorities as thin as they have and a left wing opposition that operates like the borg.
This is exactly why President Trump must pull out all stops and take bold action that will be impossible to undo.

The writer at the conservative tree house site wrote years ago the Republicans prefer to be a slight minority party because they get maximum leverage and no accountability for when things go wrong. What a contemptible approach to politics.

Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) on Tuesday started the clock for the House to vote on his seven articles of impeachment against President Trump.
House Republicans will simply move to table — or kill — the vote, forcing Democrats into a tough position on a vote many of them would rather not take.
Thanedar's move forces the House to take action by the end of the week, unless he withdraws his motion.

Dollar Store Obama, Hakeem Jeffries says Federal Law Enforcement Officers will “Find Out” if they Continue to Arrest Democrats for Breaking the Law, like they did in NJ breaking into the ICE Facility
He says he’s not scared of Donald Trump… he’s the most unpopular President in history. lol
These people are lunatics.

I’m afraid of this as well. They do not make sense to me and what they do. Trumps economic plans are our only help possibly but I’m not sure there will be enough of an improvement for the moderates to ignore the rest.

President Trump is determined to #MAGA & #MAHA . Yet, Congress mustered only six (6) bills in his first 100 days—the weakest legislative performance in SEVEN (7) decades.
This is simply UNACCEPTABLE.
President Trump's mandate is crystal clear: secure our borders, ignite the economy, dismantle woke ideology, and prioritize AMERICA FIRST. While he takes bold executive actions, too many Republicans in Congress are dragging their feet, playing politics, or aligning with the swamp.
This must STOP.
To every Republican in Congress: it's time to GET ON BOARD. President Trump's agenda isn't a mere suggestion; it's a MANDATE from the American people.
Get behind President Trump, execute the playbook, and deliver for the PEOPLE—or keep setting records for the "leanest output" and let history bury you.
Failure at this monumental moment in U.S. history is NOT an option.

The gains over the last couple days help, but they are in no way enough.
Trump wasn't voted in to turn the economy into a rollercoaster. He was voted in because The People were tired of the unAmerican bullshit being constantly forced down their throat by the Dems. The People wanted accountability, and a restoration of the Rights the Dems have been systematically destroying.
Best we've been offered is crickets.
