There is a well known saying in China about the province my ex wife was from.... " If you miss looking at a pretty woman walking down the street ... wait 10 seconds another one will walk by " I can attest to that fact personally .... Upon meeting her in the states people thought she was 10 - 15 years younger than she was ... I will say this....Once an Asian woman starts showing her age (60 + ) She does age fast. .... Please note that the older Chinese women I observed in China lived through the great famine and the cultural revolution. ..... The stress alone I imagine would be enough to age a person by decades ....

Since we are on cultural stereotypes....a saying I have (which really pisses of my wife) -

Italian women are like Italian motorcycles. When they are young and new they will steal your soul. But when they get older they turn into high maintenance nightmares.

The grocery stores, department stores that have a grocery section, dollar stores, or convenience stores, even the mom & pop deli's I suppose. Could be places to avoid if things go off the rails, so to speak.

The nearest population center to me (16 miles) is the small city of Batavia, with only a population of 16,000. But a portion of that population is the poor ghetto people who migrated from the ghetto in Rochester. That has changed the *character* of Batavia and not in a good way.

It's the ghetto people who are the people posting videos about stealing stuff, stealing stuff from customers as they walk out of the store, and looting. Given their track record, I'll take them at their word. So I plan on staying away from any stores in Batavia for the duration if shit does go sideways.

Neither side is showing any signs of blinking so far.

My kids school in NY would only let students take the entire free meal, not just the one item they actually wanted to eat. They were instructed to throw out what they didn't even want in the first place. I'm sure all the schools do the same. It ensures the quotas are met and budget gets bigger next year.

They also tried a farm fresh garden bar. I'm sure you can imagine how excited the high school students were for that one.

If we have to feed kids 2 "free" meals a day in school, is that subtracted from the SNAP benefits they would receive at home?

I think it would be amazing to replace SNAP with a Strategic Lottery for Access to Provisions. All eligible participants can purchase scratch-offs wherever EBT is accepted. It would work just like a normal lottery except the prize is "money" that can only be used for food, and it could be entirely self funded.
