Ilhan Omar Catches a Big Break – Republican Oversight Committee Drops Financial Review, Hands off to Ethics​

Someone in DC gave House Oversight Chairman James Comer the familiar tap on the shoulder and told him they don’t investigate their own Uniparty tribe. So, Comer drops his planned review of Omar’s corruption and shifts it to the ethics team.

A game of pretending is needed in order to retain the illusion of the Potemkin Village of DC. A construct manufactured by the power structure that exists behind the puppet show, with the full intention to distract us. Pretending is what gives rise to a Florida governor on a 2022 ‘book tour’ run for a 2024 campaign that everyone denied was going to happen. Pretending is also what kicks the can of accountability away until it can be buried.

The House Oversight Committee was/is created by the House legislative leadership to make money for the party in control of the Chair. When the House Speaker is notified of a DC corruption issue, inside his/her office they will often be heard saying, “give it to oversight.” The intent of that instruction is to give the issue to the HOC, so they can hold hearings, create soundbites and fundraise from the issue.


The point of HOC hearings is to create what are now described as “viral moments” that can be used to generate money.
The second, and lesser objective, is to give the illusion of accountability while not actually ever holding anyone or anything accountable. See prior HOC reference points like Fast and Furious, IRS targeting, Benghazi, the Twitter File review or the Joe/Hunter Biden crime syndicate investigation.

So, browsing farcebook/facespace I ran across a post by Ken Blackwell. It makes it sound like she didn't actually catch a break.
Time will tell, but with the current level of commitment from this Administration regarding arresting wrong-doers (ie: NO commitment) I'm not holding my breath.

BREAKING: House Oversight Chairman James Comer just confirmed that Rep. Ilhan Omar is under active scrutiny for her financial disclosures!!
When pressed by a reporter attempting to frame the inquiry as “targeting,” Comer calmly walked through the actual legal structure that governs congressional investigations, something the press routinely pretends not to understand when it becomes inconvenient. The Ethics Committee only has jurisdiction over members of Congress themselves. It does not have jurisdiction over spouses, outside business entities, or privately held companies that generate income flowing into a member’s household. The two businesses now being examined are owned by Omar’s husband, which means the Ethics Committee cannot legally investigate them even if it wanted to.
That is not a technicality. That is the law.
Comer made clear that this issue was discussed with the Ethics Committee beforehand and that Oversight is proceeding precisely because it is the correct and lawful venue. This was not freelancing. This was not improvisation. This was not some partisan ambush. It was a committee doing its job after determining that the normal internal process could not reach the entities in question.
The reporter attempted a second line of defense by arguing that the finances still appear on Omar’s disclosure forms and therefore should remain an Ethics matter. Comer shut that down as well, explaining that Oversight’s authority extends to understanding how outside income, particularly from spousal businesses, intersects with a member’s disclosures and public role. In other words, listing something on a form does not magically immunize it from scrutiny, especially when the underlying income source sits outside the Ethics Committee’s jurisdiction.
This is where the story becomes uncomfortable for the political class.
Omar’s net worth has grown dramatically during her time in Congress, and the growth is significant enough to raise questions that any serious oversight body would be obligated to ask. Members of Congress are not supposed to use their office, their access, or their proximity to power as accelerants for personal enrichment routed through spouses or related entities. When wealth expands rapidly while someone is in office, the public is owed a clear accounting of how that happened.
That principle is not ideological. It is foundational.
The reason this is being treated as controversial is not that the process is flawed, but because the subject is politically protected. The same press corps that demands endless investigations when it suits their interests suddenly becomes deeply concerned about procedure when one of their favored figures is involved. Accountability is framed as harassment. Transparency is reframed as persecution. Oversight is treated as illegitimate the moment it threatens the wrong person.
None of that changes the facts.
Oversight has jurisdiction. The Ethics Committee does not. The income flows through spousal businesses. The net worth spike is real. And the questions are obvious.
If this were any Republican lawmaker, particularly one with an outspoken public profile, the tone would be entirely different. The story would lead every broadcast. The words “follow the money” would be everywhere. Instead, the press is stuck trying to explain why asking basic financial questions is somehow inappropriate when the subject happens to be Ilhan Omar.
It is not inappropriate. It is necessary.
Congress does not get to exempt itself from scrutiny by outsourcing wealth accumulation to family members, and the American public does not lose its right to answers just because a reporter finds those answers politically inconvenient.
James Comer said it plainly, calmly, and on the record. This is the appropriate route. The committee has questions. And they are going to ask them.
That is not targeting. That is oversight. And it's time to deport her!

The constantly rising taxes and fees make it harder for me to get further ahead. In the meantime, Politicians and other fraudsters quickly become multi-millionaires. Not to mention the Democrats illegal invaders get everything for free, paid for by the taxpayers.

Being that I'm a working, taxpaying average Joe Schmo. If I break the law, I'm going to get charged with the crime and prosecuted. Not so much with the Democrat politicians. Ilhan Omar and her husband are low-hanging fruit, and yet, nothing will happen.

It's frustrating if not infuriating.
