What/How do you store your Brass Cases?

[FP1201]

I've an obscene amount of Brass in dozens of Calibers, I started out with Coffee cans and that worked well enough at first, but I've no more cans or room for them, I have Plastic Storage Bins FULL of bagged Brass (heavy duty commercial Bags, not sandwich bags), Five Gallon Buckets for Spent Cases awaiting processing, which hasn't been done because I really haven't anymore room to deal with them... Cat Litter Buckets work well for large quantities of a single size, but that's really only good for a few calibers (5.56, .45. 7.62, etc)
How do you store your cases?
Any suggestions?
I DO prefer things neat, orderly, and well arranged...don't mind dropping a couple hundred IF it'll do the job.

Anyone?

Prepped, primed, in gallon freezer bags, stored in cardboard boxes.

[dsdmmat]

5 gallon buckets for unprocessed, clear plastic storage bins for cleaned brass, metal ammo cans for loaded ammo.

[mullerjd]

Different size Sistema bins for most clean calibers, 5 gallon pails for large quantities of clean 9mm, 45, and 233. Dirty, I sort out and they go into 1 gallon milk jugs.

I'm pretty much doing the same thing now, just looking for something better...It's the storage of processed and sorted brass: few hundred '06 cases cleaned and ready to load in one, and the same or more of the same but needing to be cleaned/processed...Factory Packages of new Brass, heavy duty zip-lock Bags, most of which are in giant totes.
My Brother uses cardboard Parts Bins with/without dividers on a wooden shelf, but they're a bit small for the volume of cases.
Coffee Cans (especially the big ones) work well enough, even the plastic ones it come in now, but other than scrounging the Transfer Site, I don't have a supply, even then they only hold a couple hundred Rifle cases, and stack hap-haphazardly
Can't use flimsy stuff because it gets heavy fast.
Hell of a problem to have, isn't it?

For my precision guns the brass stays in the 100 round plastic ammo box. I load all 100 each time when the last round is fired. If a piece of brass fails to meet specs, it gets tossed and not replaced. This way I can track how many times each piece is loaded and maintain the load that acts the best in the rifle.

Special purpose/Magnum Brass is getting treated pretty much the same way using MTN flip top boxes, the Laupa Brass stays in the Factory Boxes same as loaded rounds.
I'm thinking something like these: Plastic Bins, Plastic Storage Bins, Stackable Storage Bins in Stock - ULINE
just have to buy/build shelving to hold them all.

I don't think I ever bought anything for storing brass. There is always something around the house that I can utilize. Non-dairy creamer cans or any cans with a screw-on lids. Large heavy duty freezer bags. More important to have a system to keep track how many times any particular lot of brass was reloaded and what kind of prep steps were used. I have my own system to keep track which I write on a label for each lot.

With fresh primers inserted, powder charges, and topped with projectiles.

Nah... I'm a slob. I've got bags and buckets of brass all over my dang garage.

I'll give you the benefit of doubt: You intend to make them complete again....right?

Ok. Here it is.

Cleaner than my Bench.
ULINE sells really nice heavy duty zip lock Bags that are much more efficient and stronger than kitchen/Freezer Bags, I use a Label Printer with 3/4" Tape to tag the contents, makes looking for specific items easier.

In old Scotch boxes. I clean the brass with a little liquid car wax, fill the box by caliber, and stack them. You do have to empty the boxes but…..

I mean, it sounds like you may have reached the plastic 50 gallon drum level.

Five gallon Buckets in some cases, "Cat Litter" buckets really work nice with lids and staking, but that's overkill except a few calibers.

[STS556]

I use 5lb protein powder jars labeled with the caliber.

Those actually look like a great idea.

[STS556]

I use one protein jar a month so as I add calibers, I have plenty of brass storage.

I have a bunch of once fired spent brass and I don't reload. Should I just throw them away? Can they be turned into a recycling center?

Recycle. Last time I did it a couple years ago I got $275 for 2 5 gal buckets

[Rondo223]

Or offer them up for sale here or on another forum. I am sure someone would take them off your hands and if not as stated a scrap metal processor will take them.

Depending on what it is , once fired brass is sought after by reloaders.
Bag it up and list it for sale.

[Brawny71]

I polish them all the they store in old Scotch boxes that keep appearing. Label with caliber and revisit/reload during the winter.

[Mosinitis]

Caliber? Brand? Once-fired by you or range pick-ups?

Geez thats alot of brass. I don't have enough for 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket.

It took awhile to fill those.

Went through it all. Unfortunately I forgot I got rid of a bunch last year. I'll start keeping every casing going forward.
What I have right now...

- 450 Bushmaster - 18 - $4.50
- 8x57 JS - 28 - $10
- 308 WIN - 6 - $0.50
- 7.62x51 - 20 - $2.00
- 6.5x55 SE - 10 - $4.00

Also have a bunch of spent 762x39 casings, all NON brass for free.

I'm going to be at The Firing Pin this Thursday around 10am. If you want any of it, let me know.

I bet. I used to work at The Firing Pin when they opened originally. The amount of brass we swept up every night was insane.

I used to, and sometimes still do, but I got tired of futzing with it at the Shows and there's always some cheap fucktard that wants to give a whopping ten cents a case for stuff worth three times that in scrap alone...counter intuitive as it is for me, I've stopped accumulating Brass and making more ammunition.
