A 19-year-old former member of the Michigan Army National Guard has been charged with planning a horrific mass shooting attack on a major U.S. military facility right here in Michigan, all in the name of ISIS.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said of Melvindale, Michigan was arrested on May 13, 2025 — the very day he planned to carry out the attack — after launching a drone near the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command (TACOM) facility at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan.

Said allegedly provided undercover agents, whom he believed were fellow ISIS supporters, with armor-piercing ammunition and high-capacity magazines. He conducted drone reconnaissance flights over the TACOM base, trained the undercover officers on firearms and how to construct Molotov cocktails, and mapped out entry points while identifying specific buildings to target for maximum casualties. Videos included in the complaint allegedly show Said pledging loyalty to ISIS leadership while standing in front of an ISIS flag.

He was not a member very long. In fact he never officially was. He went through training and washed out before he was a full guardsmen.
Said enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard in September 2022, completed basic training, and was discharged in December 2024 for failing to meet initial entry requirements.

Glad nothing baf happened, but I'm always skeptical of these types of "sting" operation. The FBI is very good at creating these bad guys and situations, and then "foiling" the plot.

Barely computes. If he is 19 in 2026, and he entered in 2022, he would have been 16, or possibly 15? WTF?

And if he was in for 2 years and 3 months, exactly how long would he have had to be in to complete “initial entry requirements”?

Back when I went in, if you completed basic training, aka “boot camp”, you had completed your entry requirements as I recall? Or, maybe it was 6 months in? But over 2 years?

Funny as I recall, because the other two guys on my flight to boot camp both washed out of boot camp and were sent home to Buffalo.
