An unarmed man was fatally shot in a broad daylight ambush during a dispute over a parking spot at a North Lauderdale Walmart on Tuesday.

62-year-old Bart Diguglielmo was shot by a woman during an argument over a parking space.

The unidentified shooter is claiming self-defense. Diguglielmo was not armed.

Diguglielmo’s family said he was a Christian man and a decorated veteran who served in Desert Storm in the Army National Guard.

CBS reported the sheriff is required to withhold the shooter's name until the investigation is complete and charges are filed by the DA.

THAT IS NOT TRUE

Florida authorities are not required to withhold the name of a shooter before a formal charge is filed. Under the state's broad Florida Public Records Law, police generally have the discretion to release the identities of suspects, persons of interest, and individuals involved in shootings, even in the preliminary stages of an investigation.

Authorities made a deliberate conscious decision to withhold information on the shooter but had no problem naming the deceased victim.

Time will tell. She stood her ground but the video shows he did not appear to be a physical mortal threat at the time of the shooting, and for 30 seconds they were walking around arguing maintaing at least a several foot distance without him charging her closing that distance. Don't understand how this could be swept under the rug as a clean self defense killing. She came out of her car with the gun and asked where the deceased was (had left and parked elsewhere). Looked like she was looking for a fight ... instead of just leaving. He looked like he was trying to get the last word. Maybe they'll charge the deceased for 2nd degree stupid.

How about arresting her and let a court decide? Personally , I dont think its anywhere near self defense.

Self defense requires a believable threat to your life . I dont see it here. and I dont think a jury will either.

He walked toward me isnt going to cut it . He walked toward me with a weapon is OK .

why did this excuse for human pull a weapon in the first place? wheres the threat?

not advocating either way at this point but I will say that a threat level for a woman is much different than a threat level for one of us.
I tell my wife all the time that if she’s ever confronted and threatened in such a manner, Especially if the person making the threat advances on her that she should consider it a potentially deadly threat and act accordingly. Here in Newyorkistan it’s an extremely slippery slope regardless.
In a stand your ground state things would be different.

However, Looking at the above cell phone photo the distance certainly doesn’t show an imminent deadly threat.

was he waiting for a spot and when it cleared she slipped in and "stole" the site he was waiting for?

Im pretty sure at the point where he got shot he said something cleaver like "You're not going to shoot anyone"


sadly, this was a complete waste. Like Wal-Mart doesn't have 10 acres of parking space.

We’re a lazy ass society. Everyone is always Jockeying for a spot as close as possible. Whenever I go somewhere I’ll generally park well away from the craziness .
