Having witnessed the birth of the Popularity of the AR in the 1970's after the VN war, it was amazing how the demand grew, driven by wanting to have what the soldiers carried.

It is the same today on other states.

I registered my early SP1's, and other full featured AW's that I can shoot in public on ranges. Safe Queens for the most part.

Mass shooters tend to need them, historically speaking.

Not a great home defense weapon as the bullets tend to go through nearby homes, too.

Wire spool makes an easy shooting desk after cutting out body placement points which can become the stool. Putting pvc pipe in the ground set to the placement of 1 1/2 Target stand allows cheap replacements and known distance while being able to remove.

Yea, I drive pipe into the ground and then slot in target holders welded up from 5/8 rebar.

The rebar is smaller than wood, so less likely to be hit, and I just weld it back up when it is.

The rebar is also smaller, so don't need as big a piece of pipe, I usually use 3/4 sch 40 steel. That's small enough I can just make the hole with an SDS drill rather than having to do real work.

My targets are mostly not in an area accessible to the excavator.

AW Gun Kits and AW guns started to come in in droves..AK's FAL's, HK's, etc etc and kits galore............You were not there kid, obviously. ATF had to outlaw M16 parts in AR's and auto sears.

At the Syr gun show, it was amazing what you could buy. I bought an HK 91 for $400in '88 and AK's were dirt cheap.
Garands came in 1985, by the thousands,

Bill Clinton really had nothing to do with the AR craze. He just tried to stop it.

Congress passed the AW ban for 10 years.

That you think that it all started with BC shows your youth and lack of knowlege of the past.

The sale of AR and AK platform rifles ABSOLUTELY EXPLODED with the passage of the AW ban in 1994. Those stats are undeniable.
