I know I'm reaching but this happens and the entire computer system for American airlines goes down right after an AI agent escaped from a lab and accessed the Internet. Coincidence? Probably. But sometimes I wonder....
There are some times, when a coincidence, isn't a coincidence.
I do remember a story which fell out of the news cycle about 10 years ago where a hacker broke into the water authority of a Florida county in the middle of the night and was remotely mixing potential lethal doses of chemicals into the municipal drinking water, the only thing that prevented an absolute disaster was that the control room operator at the time was paying attention that his mouse cursor had been taken over remotely and was making commands that he was not making.
If that 1 single person was sleeping on the job, in the bathroom, chatting with a co worker, etc.... it would have been a catastrophic event.

There are times like this when I'm glad I'm on a private well, which I can also manually pump water out of during power outages as a bonus. I'm not trying to humble-brag or anything, but then again, none of that happened by accident.
A private well was an absolute must when I bought my property.
The two most important things to me when I bought my property back in 1990 were.
1. A private well.
2. No public sidewalks nearby, not even a few miles away.
Relying on municipal water has just always sounded like a really bad idea to me... YMMV.
As always, It's never a bad time to top off your preps. Don't forget pet supplies if applicable.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm on "city" water (private company), but we have a well plumbed into the house also. I said I was going to get that tested when we bought the place back in '22. I really need to get my ass in gear........
