New details emerge in fatal Van Zandt County shooting that killed Texas deputy
"...Estimates at 800..."
"...over 800 rounds..."
That's a shit load of magazines, even a belt fed would get pretty hot...I feel for the Deputy killed and his Family as well as the other Officer hurt.
sounds a little suspect, I hope there wasn't an embellishment of facts here.

It's either a lie, or it was a *very* long engagement.
Considering that's about what an entire Marine fire team carries into combat.
27 magazines.
or any of the dozens of other manufacturers with multiple designs....do you despise the prospect of ordinary men having a faster rate of fire?
He doesn't even think you should own the gun, much less the frt
"...not coming after my Trap Shotgun or 30-30 Deer Rifle"....right Elmer, always thinking of yourself.

Oh, I don't know. I carried thirty mag's eighteen rounds each, ten more in my ruck, but then we were always a long way out.

Great, people like this are examples to ruin it for all of us. Ammo limits on 3, 2, 1….

Its election time, let the shootings begin!!!
Only time I've ever ran through even close to that much ammo was on the Machinegun Training Range where we were firing FA at will...it takes time, takes time to load all those magazines...I'm quite certain it can be done, but that's a very high number of rounds to hose out of House window at people that presumably are shooting back....wasn't there, no intel, just seems a bit suspect. and did somebody actually collect and count all the cases?
Without doubt, some gun hating fucktard (aka "democrat") will be submitting Bills to limit how much ammunition you can have...surprised Hochul hasn't declared an "emergency" to sign into Law limitations, they did it with AW's and Magazines twice now.

800 rounds , 30 round mag 800 diveded by 30 is 26 mags , 1 mag = 1 lb x26 mags , 26 lbs , plus 6 for rifle , seems a little heavy ,
fired 800 rounds? or possessed 800 rounds? the press likes to embellish the story , (its election time ) Not impossible, but not likely either.

A bit of embellishment in the reporting may be involved too.

And that's *still* not 800 rounds.
The guy had proven he was a major threat.
The cops I would think, would have waited and got him unaware. Not knock on the door and tell him we have a warrant, but go ahead and load up we will wait.
But, then again we tell people we will be back at 6:00 pm a year from now to see if you have weapons of mass destruction. Then wonder when things go wrong.

Oh, they were banned. That means criminals never get them right ? I guess the "glock switch" is a figment of someone's imagination.
So you assume it's an FRT and not an illegally converted gun.
Why would you need to bring one in, instead of just making one yourself ?

The Sheriff says it in the press conference.
Looks like the guy was barricaded in his home, he wasnt out carrying that loadput.
Easily could have been using more than 1 rifle as well.

You cant calculate rate of fire without the time element. This standoff could have been over many hours. We dont know, it was not stated.

This shooting occurred in East Texas, a place where smuggling goes both ways...
Cherry picked news story from Dallas:
5 days agoThe Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as 42-year-old Mi Van Nguyen, who reportedly fired more than 800 rounds using a semi-automatic rifle in Tuesday night's shooting.
whole incident seems to have fallen off the snewz.

That tells you a lot about the perpetrator doesn't it.
Not knowing exactly what happened and how leaves us making a lot of assumptions and speculations; that said, we've seen plenty of "stories" full of fiction and/or ignored because of demographics not matching the narrative.

800 rounds is not that many in the grand scheme of things. They can have 30 round mags in Texas so that about 26-27 magazines. That can be done in sub 30 minutes easy. They have also have 50 and 100 round drum magazines.
Still zero details other than it being a semi auto rifle, him being a wanted felon, and over 800 rounds fired at police.

Again we're assuming that the semi-automatic Rifle was an AR-15 or AK47 variant, one even assumed an FRT was in place...I'll even speculate that it could be done with either, but not easily certainly would take time to cool the barrel and swap magazines, even Belt fed are generally <=250 rounds at a time.800 rounds is not that many in the grand scheme of things.
