I just heard about this from a video on facebook from Smoke Wagon Firearms, a shop in Pine Bush NY. In the video, the guy spoke about his customers being refused permit additions of fixed mag ARs. He speaks of talking to the Ulster permit office and was told there is nothing in writing about this , just out of the blue personal feelings from the licensing judges.

Here's the statement from the shop along with the video: "
Today, I spoke with the Ulster County pistol permit administrator after customers were refused additions of fixed-magazine AR pistols to their permits.
These configurations have been accepted for years. I was told they are no longer being accepted and must instead be configured for single-shot operation.
I asked for the ruling or written guidance explaining this requirement and was told there’s nothing in writing—only word of mouth from the licensing judges.
This raises a serious question: What specifically changed, and what is the legal basis for these refusals?
If there’s a new requirement, customers and dealers deserve clear, written guidance explaining the standard and its effective date.
This reflects what I was told today, not a confirmed change in New York State law. I’ve asked for written clarification and will share any response.
Our customers deserve consistency, transparency, and answers.

If there's nothing in writing, that certainly raises the question of what exactly this applies to and what legal basis there is for this. How can they even defend it, or have buyers know what they can have or not, if nothing is defined ? Of course they don't care and just make up whatever they want.
It already takes several months just to add a pistol to a permit and be allowed to pick it up in Ulster County. More total nonsense.
