Why so big for a nightstand? Does your hand grow while you sleep? For most people, it's something else that grows during bedtime.

How about, just tape a box of 45 ACP to a brick and keep it in your nightstand to throw at intruders?
If it works then what the hell. But as the old saying goes: "Don't go asking people if wearing grannies underwear is cool, when you already know the first rule of Fight Club, is you do not talk about Fight Club."

Back in the days when people had these for carry,
They didn't have these one of these on their night stand before going to bed.
So why do people now think they need large guns for bedtime? In the past, a snub-nose under a pillow was sufficient.

I think the big difference is that, when you're in the privacy of your own home that you don't need a compact handgun to conceal on your person, and the additional barrel length with a longer sight radius, increased capacity and weight allow the user to have more control and better accuracy. It makes perfect sense to have a gun that's easier to control when other factors don't matter outside of your dwelling.

Back in the day when options were limited especially wonder 9s or even .45 acps with more than 8 rounds.
Right I also don't know why people back in the 60s-80s didn't think about say a 19+1 9mm for a bed stand gun when they carried say a 10 or 15+1 9mm as an edc

***edit*** I can't believe people are also buying cars that get 30 or 40 mpg when back in the day people did just fine on 12 or 15 mpg

Except that sight radius has no bearing on distances of less than 25 yards and capacity is a non issue in this state.
I'm not saying a Seecamp or other pocket pistol is ideal either. I'm talking a snub-nose, Glock 19, Walther, Sig P320, ect... Or any compact pistol that allows a full grip.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm talking about someone who has a Glock 19 but thinks a Glock 17 is better because it's bedtime.

Why not a larger gun for nightstand. More accurate and more capacity. Plus he doesn't need it concealmor be light.
Oh ok yeah I get what you mean now
I mean I've been in some decent sized houses and I'm pretty sure it's not a 50 yard room or 100 yard hallways so we are most likely talking about point shooting

Ok.
When a really broke friend of mine got his permit he couldnt wait to scrape up his pennies and borrow $30 from me to buy a HiPoint 45.
He spent $149 for it brand new with 2 magazines.
That was in 2013.
I was and still am INCREDIBLY impressed with the accuracy and dependability.
He has easily 10,000 rounds through it with maybe 5 FTE and a couple jams.
It is not pretty, infact the one pictured looks far better, they must have improved the appearance. My buddies is literally as square as a brick.

That's complete bullshit.
Are you essentially stating that a shooter would be just as accurate with a 5" 1911 with an extended sight radius as compared to a 3" 1911 because it's under 25 yards? Be real dude, that's totally incorrect. I don't care what distance you just came up with off the top of your head, it surely will help aid in better accuracy. Secondly, when you talk about concealed carry guns, a great deal of them don't even have a capacity of 10 rounds. None of my CCW handguns hold 10 rounds unless I get actual extended capacity magazines for them, and then the magazines stick way out and it's ridiculous. If you're carrying a double stack compact handgun that from the factory holds more than 10 rounds, something in NYS like edward's P07 cz would be an excellent 10+1 choice for a nightstand gun. It's a duty sized frame that will outperform the task during an home invasion than any revolver that comes to mind. Your posts seem like something Andrew Cuomo would say to be honest, no offense.
I used to teach the CWP class in Florida and had several students bring them to class. They seem to work OK - even had one guy who would come in to the range every week and shoot 100 rounds. Same thing for months. Just make sure you thoroughly test out the hollowpoints. Hey, if it works, why not.

Some like to leave a night stand gun locked up in the night stand. Might as well get the bigger of the two for that.

Andrew Cuomo. Ok dude. Way to go overboard due to anger or a personal issues.
If you think 2 inches in barrel length is going to make a difference in whether you hit your target or not in the chest in a room or hallway , then I don't know what to tell you.
As far as capacity, I'm not talking about a Seecamp or an LCP with a 5 round magazine and shitty sights. I'm taking about a Glock 19 or Sig P320 sized compact pistol with a full sized grip that holds 10 rounds anyway no matter what the caliber.

And what advantage do you get with the bigger of the 2? Glock 19 vs 17 with a 10 round magazine?

Yes, a 66% increase in sight radius makes it easier to shoot accurately at bedroom distances and at 25 yards.
Your first 2 firearm examples in this thread were 6 shot revolvers. 10+1 is better than 6 because more is better.
