Im sure there are some who regret registering and will do just that. Sadly there are those Fudds that have the old "i have nothing to hide" syndrome so they willingly bend over to the state.

So what, they're going to do this once every other week now? No problem, I have no assault weapons.

Most of the people I know that registered are the ones going to competitions regularly. When cops are often the ones showing up to these things, you don't want to always be looking over your shoulder. I guess there's a lot of upstaters here, but re-registering every five years has been standard in the lower counties for a long time.

Since when did you need to re-register an "Assault Rifle" every 5 years? There was no mention of having to re-register every 5 years after the initial registration. Hoodfu, It sounds like your confusing re-registering your pistol permit every 5 years with re-registering a assault rifle every 5 yrs. You are correct that the lower counties have had the re-registering of pistol permits every 5 years. Westchester, NYC, and both counties in LI.

That’s what I’m trying to get my father and n law to do.
People who compete know each other well and share a comradery: cops, plumbers, teachers or lawyers. No one will ever ask you if you registered or not.
Exactly. If I have to "always look over my shoulder" at the range, I'm not going. I don't give a fuck if they are cops or Ronald McDonald.

just for shits and giggles what if I decide to register my henry lever action in 357? It would be fun to see them come knocking my door only to show them it doesn't meet assault weapon status due to not have any of the qualifying features.

Didn't they get the message the first time when next to no one registered?

Smells like a trap to me. Yea, go ahead and register for the first time. We will be at your door shortly to make an arrest and take ALL of your firearms.

This looks no different than the pistol recertification. Same process.

Yep. Someone show me where this applies to “AW’s” in the unSafe Law.

Depending on tube size, it might meet the LCAFD law.
it has a 6 round tube which is legal. Heck it even complies when they doing the 7 round magazine limit. Wood furniture and brass receiver it is as FUDD of a gun as you can get. Watch them come bust my door down and take it, and then I can sue for them confiscating a gun that doesn't meet the requirements of a safe act assault weapon.

All it takes is one SS-wannabe asking to see your papers. You think the others are going to back you up?
Of course I'm one to talk, I broke down and registered my handguns.. they already knew about them anyway.
Looks like an SBR to me!

A friend inherited several firearms from his deceased brother. It wasn't until AFTER the assault weapons registration closed that he realized one of the firearms was a 'demonic assault weapon' that had to be registered. He called the State Police registration detail in Albany, asking about registering it. He was told, "the registration is closed, - no way to register it now." -- This was a few years ago, - he's still in possession of the rifle, - no one has ever contacted him about it. We are both waiting anxiously for the day when the SP SWAT team arrives to seize this 'illegal unregistered weapon'. I just don't believe anyone in the SP knows what they want to do about this "imaginary problem" - I'm not too worried YET, and just maybe, - if we are able to vote in a change to the 'Curly, Larry & Moe dog & pony show' in Albany, - things can return to a pre-cuomo stage of normalcy here......aw hell!...who am I kidding, we're all screwed.

"Revocation of registration". WTF does that mean? You did but not really? Every stupid nanny state reporting and law has failed? So one is no longer able to lawfully possess a firearm, report yourself? What happened to the 5th or is that only available to corrupt politicians?
