Not a Glock owner, nor fan, but don't you need to pull the trigger to break the gun down? Of course, you should remove any bullet already chambered, AFTER removing a mag, and before pulling any trigger.
And keep your damn finger off the trigger anyways.....what rule # is that?

Anytime you pick up a handgun you should first check to see if it is loaded before doing anything else with it. Shoot it or clear it, real simple.

He wasn't thinking. He was upset the Indians lost last night.

yep its loaded ..
yep its loaded ..
Yeah, but that could be a dummy round. What you need to do is look down the barrel like that, and then pull the trigger to ensure it is a live round, then you know you need to remove it.hard hard is this task to perform .. checking mine now ..

If other citizens have been charged in similar situations; this guy should as well. His job title should not stop prosecution.
If no other person has been charged ever for this, then neither should he. His current employment should have zero input when making a decision to charge.

Drop the mag, rack the slide a half dozen times, lock slide to the rear, visually inspect chamber, sweep chamber with finger, release slide, pull trigger. It's a robotic process for me. What are these guys doing? "I guess its time to clean my gun", unholster gun, pull trigger, BANG! "Shazzam what just happened!?". I don't get it.

When a police officer with hours and hours of firearms training manages to discharge his Glock, it's not even a negligent discharge, it is a reckless discharge.
That is true of any Profession.
Being a Copper does NOT make this any worse than if he were a Plumber or a Computer Programmer. 100% the same.
So, if you train more, the punishment should be worse?
I have had extensive training driving a vehicle, more than most people; if I get in a wreck, should I be punished more than the guy who only has basic drivers training?

Use a family member as example. At a recent event he brought his shotgun(Don't wanna go into details) He took 4 shots at a target with 00 Buck and missed. Gave the shotgun to me which I have never shot.. .BOOM first shot.

The Four Rules
- All guns are always loaded. (Treat them so!)
- Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target (and you have made the decision to shoot).
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

Is he an OCS graduate?
Agreed. I have a muc, much more trigger time as a civilian than I did my 6 years in the Army. I'm counting off duty shooting with privately owned guns as civie time.

My brother also had an accidental discharge and he had to get married
I'm not so sure about that statement.
1st rebuttal: example, man takes down his pants sitting to use toilet, the gun heavier than the waistband flips(as we know can happen, depending on type of pants) and say it falls out or slams down on floor and the person had one chambered(chambered..that being another argument for another thread) with a cheap gun and bad safety mechanism (as we know happened to the Taurus models that were recalled) gun fires..to me that's an accidental discharge.
2nd rebuttal: unicorns could have existed and genetic mutations over time may be the cause of the sighting of a "unicorn"
3rd rebuttal: dragons may have flew originally but again evolution may have had a hand in the losing of their wings and grounding them, due to lack of food source in sky..
2nd & 3rd =
1st = I was being completely serious

This Guy should face the same consequences as any one else would. I don't feel his employment should be terminated however he should be re trained in firearms safety.
