If he thinks America wasn’t that great to begin with. He should take a long look in the mirror. Its mainly because of people like him who have made a career undermining the core rights and values of this country.

If America was never that great, why did his grandfather leave Italy to come here? God, I hate that waste of human flesh.

So will this hurt him or help him in the election coming up. I think it might mobilize some more of us to get out and vote, but the left I don’t think will be bothered by it.
He knows it will hurt.
His spokesperson already walked the comment back.

2 things.
Saying stuff like this does nothing for you, even if it's true. Vast majority of voters listen with emotion rather than logic. And most people hear "HE SAID AMERICA ISN'T GREAT RAAAAAAAAHHHHH! COMMIE PINKO DICK!" When what he actually said was, if it was never great for people who weren't white males.
I understand where he's coming from. If for the last 450 years or so of America's existence as a colony to a country you were anything but a white male, it was a pretty rough go. At best America was lukewarm to your presence and at worst they were downright genoicidal about it.

Let me break it down:
Blacks largely until 1964 had great difficulty voting, were held in slavery for about 200 years or so, and then were subjected to Jim Crow laws for a majority of the 20th century. I doubt they look back on anything pre1964 as overwhelmingly "great".
Half the population in this country could not cast a vote for their rights until 1920. Those days when they were regarded as their husband's property, and could be legally beaten were just misunderstood years for them I'm sure...
EVERY. SINGLE. Immigrant population has faced racism, bigotry, discrimination, and sometimes violence since the 18th century, at least. They would not consider it a great time I'm guessing.
Native Americans. Do I really need to elaborate on this one?
I'm just saying. You and I may look back on history as America's greatness, but to the perspective of others I'm guessing you'd receive mixed reviews at best.

And nearly all those immigrants came here after leaving the home lands because they knew, even with the difficulties in America, this country was still great.
For all those that it tough here in years past, they could have left. They did not for the same reason.
I am not blind to history, I actually know it quite well. If the overall history and successfulness of The United States is/was not great, I have no idea what great is.
My very recent ancestors were immigrants. I remember listening to their stories, it was not at all easy for them in a new and strange land. They pulled up their boot straps, ignored what was said to and about them and did all they could to add to our greatness.
You and others may hold the opinion that America was never great, I will, all day long, argue that opinion.

That's fine. I'm just letting you know, you're viewing it from a perspective where it never was a negative being who you were in America so your opinion and perspective is far different than say a 70 year old black man.
That's all Cuomo is saying too. Like I said though, saying it the way he said it doesn't do anything but trigger emotional responses.
That is okay, you support Cumhole. I have no issue with that. He said, and he believes that America sucks and has never seen greatness. He is sickened by what the United States represents and stands for. I disagree with him and anyone that thinks the way he does.
One of the ways that make this a great place is we the people saw so many injustices throughout our history and did much to change it. We the people ended slavery in the US. We have attempted throughout the years to make things right with the Indians. There have been many "mistakes", but as a whole, we try our best to correct those that have been made.
I do not believe too many think this is a perfect Nation, far from it. But for this asshole to say the kinds of things he says is just sad; sad and disgraceful. But go ahead, defend him all you want.

America has been responsible for some of the greatest medical inventions in history. Polio , Small pox gone along with a slew of other diseases .. What country produces the most new drugs .. Not England .. How about medical patents ? Because the way our system is set up innovation is greatly encouraged . .. The invention does not belong to the state .. One can become rich with brains and some luck . We have a system where we can fail. Plead bankruptcy Start in another direction ... Rare in many countries . Our economic model is next to none IF the government stifles regulations .
What country in existence has had a history that is not revolting by today standards .. Slavery has existed in all corners of the world . The slave trade is still strong in Africa today ... .. Sex trade ... Still strong as it ever has .
Russia had it's serfs ... China also. In China ... say 1900 .. One could buy a girl of any age for any reason for a few bowls of rice . If a man could feed them he could have 10 wives ..9 bought and paid for .. Still today India has a cast system .
Here in America if one makes the effort you can be successful. .. Any race ... IF liberals stay out of the way that is .

lets break it down for you: MAGA is referring to the last 8 years that set this country back 75 years. NObama screwed the black and minorities. Basically, I look at MAGA as a new start from the pure shit that NObama gave AMERICA. If you think thats not true, ask yourself. ?? could Mel Brooks have made a movie like Blazing Saddles 5 years ago? nope, not without the Party of Hate (Democrats) having a stroke and demanding he be hung.
From my FB post:
AMERICA has always had, and always will have racial issues. So does every other country on earth. But if AMERICA was never great, the fuck won two world wars and is the planet's police? every time the SHTF on this planet, everyone turns to "the not so great" AMERICA.
Cuomo can kiss my Irish ass, he is truly UNAMERICAN

The last 450 years of this country wasn't so easy for white males either. Plenty of them died in battle or drowned at sea or crushed in mines or from machinery, some starved to death or died of thirst or were eaten by animals. Then a couple of hundred thousand white males went and fought a horrible civil war to end the slavery of other human beings. Then those white guys voted to have women join in electing our political leaders.
Yea, those white guys suck.
