Well of course this is not what we all wanted to hear so thoughts? Is this just a game? I heard places in the Southern Hemisphere that had winter had like no flu season. Does that mean masks really work or are we just more conscientious about hand washing, staying home, coughing into our sleeves, and more working from home? Also no large gatherings might have a lot to do with it. These people need to use common sense and say we don’t know if they don’t know. I’m totally done with this.

Walk around the ladder rather than under...don't let a black cat cross your path...My 2 cents is this virus is easier to contract than flu and is more deadlier than flu for people with pre existing conditions.(and a person knows if the other is sick while COVID can be had with no symptons) Sure a lot die from flu...I've had the flu shot every year for 35 years and I still get a bad cold/minor flu once in a while..maybe 5 times over 35 years. I would hope the COVID-19 vaccine would work better than the percentage they accept.

Last years flu shot was 30% effective they say. I never get the flu shot and I’ve had the swine flu once and regular flu never. It’s all about your body and immunity.

Correct. Masks and distance decrease viral loads. That’s why the severity and spread of the virus is totally different now than it was in the beginning. Now I’m not saying that one should wear them in their car, while they sleep next to their wives, or when talking to Harold the neighbor who you know is not sick in case others want to jump off the deep end with that ridiculousness just to bolster an argument.

Just stating a fact. Masks capture some infected droplets that would otherwise be expelled into the air decreasing the viral load to be inhaled. Nothing more and nothing less.

I can eliminate cancer deaths the same way. Just change all the death certificates to "heart failure".

But these people are killing themselves because they are not taking advice of health professionals. Any doctor will tell 2/3rd of the population, which is overweight, to take care of itself. But they ignore it and buy ice cream. And don't exercise. Our terrible diets are the most destructive thing in modern life about our health and why so many have diabetes etc.

As for original question yes we won't be without masks for a long time.

There have been 2 positive COVID-19 cases in the past 12 days.
Both on the same day. Both under 20 years old.

That's 2 cases in almost 2 weeks. Out of a population of 57,000 people.
If that does not put things into perspective I do not know what will.

I say that this Chinese Flu over reaction falls directly in the category of... "Never let a crises go to waste"

Absolutely Correct, but why have I never had the flu in my life. I’m sure I’ve had the same viral load as others that have gotten the flu. All I ever get is a small head cold that turns into a cough. I’m sure I have a good immune system compared to others. I’ve missed one day in 3 years of work at my new job and before that I was in R&D at my last job for 5-6 years and I think I only called in sick once if that. So 1-2 sick days for me in 8-9 years and other get sick that many in one year.

Your immune system is strong. But even with a strong immune system, it can get overwhelmed to where you get sick if you are getting exposed for a longer period of time.

2 Daughters in the Health profession both caught the virus. Gave it to their husbands. Some of the grandkids also caught it. All said they have been more sick with the flu. Because they are in the profession they must now be tested regularly. To show how stupid all of this is, sometimes they test positive and sometimes negative. There has never in the course of mankind been a vaccine for any COVID Virus AKA the common cold. Probably will never be either. China did this and then some of our leaders saw how China with its totalitarian was able to track and trace and thought WOW if only we could do that. Which they no do with that thing you carry with you everywhere. Remember Hillary always bring up a pandemic when she was running. Bird Flu or whatever they had a plan then but didn't use it.
