Plastic bag ban kicks in today
ALBANY – Effective today, when you go shopping at the supermarket or other store, you will not be taking home your purchases in plastic bags. The state is now
So was the State lying when grocery store packers were prohibited from using a customer's reusable bags (because of potential Covid-19 infection pathway from handling the customer's used re-usable bags) or does the state not care about the health of its citizens?

So instead, they will cut down more trees with has powered equipment, and paper processing plants will burn more fossil fuel to make paperbags. Burning more fuel, and reducing CO2 eating trees is better for the environment?
The environmental footprint of a paper bag is massive compared to plastic.Again!
We grow trees just for paper production.
Carbon foot print should be about the same for the factories, plastic is made from oil, so.
Bingo. How many grocery trips does 100lbs of plastic bags cover compared to 100lbs of paper ?
What about plastic bottles? Plastic utensils? Plastic cups? Plastic packaging?

I'm not so sure even the DDT ban was an overall "good thing".I too would like to see the math on all the bs "green" save the planet ideas.
I will say some has been good, DDT, Phosphate, etc.
If your old like me you know we killed the earth back in the late 60's, had a new ice age, melted the polar ice and everyone drowned. All the time adding more regulations, bureaucracy, (money skimming) because of feelings we need real information to make an educated decision.
Funny enough... if people would have just worn masks back then when they sprayed it they would have been just fine. Because of the droplet size.I'm not so sure even the DDT ban was an overall "good thing".
Globally about half a million people die from Malaria *every year*. That's twice the US deaths from covid *every single year*.
I am willing to sacrifice some birds to save tens of millions of people.True but we did get birds back that were going away. It's not like DDT was sprayed on people; wait yes it was.
We just made new chemistry to replace it, who knows what that stuff is doing.
C'mon man that's what those little colorful bins are forWhat about plastic bottles? Plastic utensils? Plastic cups? Plastic packaging?

I am willing to sacrifice some birds to save tens of millions of people.
I know that makes me a "heartless conservative that doesn’t care about the environment", but I don't care.
OTOH, the vast majority of people dying from malaria are "POC", so does that make the environmentalists raging racists ? We did use DDT to wipe out Malaria where all the "white people" live, then banned it before saving the "brown people".
Id like to see the actual math on the average cost, and estimated environmental impact. Id bet paper has a bigger impact. The environmental footprint of a paper bag is massive compared to plastic.
Processing paper takes a lot of energy and caustic chemicals, even if the raw ingredient literally "grows on trees".
I haven't seen anyone do the math on how many plastic bags worth of petroleum you have to burn to make a paper bag, but I am sure it's a lot.
And that doesn't even figure in the distribution costs.
How many truckloads of paper bags does it take to equal one truck of plastic ?
They quote the number of plastic bags because it sounds big, but they are individually so light as to be insignificant.
How many grocery trips does 100lbs of plastic bags cover compared to 100lbs of paper ?
Silly rabbit, thats population control 101.I'm not so sure even the DDT ban was an overall "good thing".
Globally about half a million people die from Malaria *every year*. That's twice the US deaths from covid *every single year*.
In an unmolested market the cost would be directly related to the impact, and the market would decide which was better based on *all* the factors.Id like to see the actual math on the average cost, and estimated environmental impact. Id bet paper has a bigger impact.
What about plastic bottles? Plastic utensils? Plastic cups? Plastic packaging?
Instead of using the bags generally made from recycled materials...correctSo instead, they will cut down more trees with gas powered equipment, and paper processing plants will burn more fossil fuel to make paperbags. Burning more fuel, and reducing CO2 eating trees is better for the environment?

I think FUAC should be the recipient of all the unused plastic bags. This is a good indicator of how they should be used.
