Can you quote? I recall reading that he was looking to acquire a concealed carry. Something g about new business dealings.

Maybe you should reread the article
Leifer said he needs the harder-to-get “carry” permit because he does business deals and takes client retainers that sometimes involve a “substantial amount of cash.” He’s also a partner in two bars — Brandy Library in Tribeca and Copper & Oak on the Lower East Side — which “also generate cash.”
He doesn’t care abou the requirements. Especially if he has the permit in hand. His goal would be to sure for the permit. He doesn’t care about you or me. Not is that suggested in said article. Judge will say if you want it apply for it. You are creating another angle which is not in the article.
Yea. Suggests he is going for the harder to get permit. Nowhere does it say he already has it or has had it. I guess we can both interpret it differently because it is not explicitly stated. Shitty job just like the headline.Maybe you should reread the article

If that was all he wanted, then he would have just sent them the bank records they asked for.
He wants the BS to end. He is proceeding correctly to do that.
You cannot eliminate the requirement by obeying it.
I understand. However my take is he didn’t apply properly because he cannot product the docs. He should produce them regardless and if denied he should sue with standing.

And if not denied, then he can do nothing and the requirement stands.
Sir. It’s nyc. It’s dead on arrival. Also he started the app process. If he wanted to go the route you suggest he wouldn’t have even done that. There would be no reason to.

Your comprehension is flawed.
He has had the permit for 50 years. His *renewal* was rejected because he didn't produce the documents.
The man *is* a high priced lawyer, I think he knows what he's doing better than you do here.
Aren't you always the one telling us to listen to the lawyers ?
Well, here is one, and now you're telling us you know more than he does.

This is not an app process.
It was a renewal of a permit he's had for half a century.
You claiming it would be dead on arrival is a perfect demonstration of how badly you misunderstand the process. It's not DOA, he's literally done it successfully dozens of times before, and if he had just emailed them a bank statement he could have had his renewal no fuss no muss.
He wants to fight the BS, and you don't do that by cooperating.
Ok well that is a different story then. The article was poorly written and even said he has James Bond automatic weapons. If it is a renewal of the same permit then that is bad. However he should still produce the docs required and go from there. How can he be denied based on new guidelines when he hasn’t submitted the documentation I the first place? To not do so and not cooperate with the application process and expect an approval is quite foolish. If he were a great lawyer he would know this is going nowhere in nyc. Something is a miss here.
What suggests that? You just cited nypd saying the qualifications changed. Now he still qualifies but doesn’t want to submit docs anyhow? Something is missing here.

He probably knew there was a strong chance of a denial, and that the denial was a *requirement* to sue.
You cannot sue when you've already got what you're suing over.
Understand. I’ve stated “standing” many times now. Doesn’t really pass the smell test though. Requirements changed but he also still qualifies and is withholding docs? Makes no sense. He’s not a martyr. He’s an old man that wants to keep his James Bond gun.

No, NYPD said that he no longer qualifies because he hasn't demonstrated that the "special conditions" that led to the original approval still exist.
His full carry was originally based on the fact that he carries large amounts of cash.
NYPD said "if he can't or won't prove that he still carries lots of cash, then his permit will not be renewed".
He wants to overturn that requirement.
If he had provided the proof they ask for, he could not do that.
If Rosa Parks had just moved to the back of the bus when asked, someone else would have had to fight that fight.

So, why do *you* think the high priced expert lawyer decided not to just email a bank statement ?
Would have taken him 5 mins.

NYPD never said the qualifications changed, and in fact they haven't.
NYPD claimed that his circumstances changed and no longer meet the requirements
Stop grandstanding with Rosa parks. Has nothing to do with the case. How does nypd know He no longer qualifies if he didn’t submit docs? I understand he wants to overturn it now that he no longer qualifies. He should apply with the lower income and get a denial so he has standing. As of now he hasn’t gotten a firm denial. He simply is not getting renewed due to lack of completing the process and documents. Not sure why you think he is out to right all the wrongs. If he still had the cash or income he wouldn’t give a fuck about it. He didn’t care for the last 50 years. He only does now that HE no longer qualifies.
Because he’s out of the game and doesn’t qualify. It wasn’t a problem for 50 years when he did. It’s not about doing the right thing. It’s all about him.

Because the high price expert lawyer is not declaring said cash?
He will probably be getting a visit from the IRS now?

Comprehension is not your strong suit.
He does still qualify. He still owns the businesses.
NYPD said he hasn't provided the requested *proof* that he does.
So, he *could* easily provide the proof, he has chosen not to. The logical conclusion is that he *does* want to fight the good fight.

Why would he stop all of a sudden ?
For 50 years he's run the business above board, and now he decides to launder the money ?
How do you know that? He’s a old man. You think he’s still out there like he was? Doubtful. Again 50 years of his own actions say it’s all about him. The version of him in your mind does not match the 50 year record of him getting his permit and not caring about anyone else. Seems likely he no longer qualifies and now all of a sudden (50 years later) it’s an issue. That’s the only variable here of all requirements are the same as you stated.
No. People do this thing called retire. They leave the game. I’ve got a 50 year history of his actions to back me up. Now it’s a problem. Wasn’t before. Why? Because he doesn’t qualify anymore. That’s why.
spat
.950 JDJ
The business still exists and by all accounts has sufficient cash flow to meet the requirements, why would he *not* be able to provide the proof if he wanted ?
Why didn’t he challenge it for the last 50 years if he cared about it?
spat

He still owns the business.
It doesn’t matter if he never steps foot in it anymore, he can produce the statements the NYPD asked for if he wanted.

Maybe he didn't care 50 years ago.
Not 50 years ago. But for the last 50 years.
I guess we don’t know. He both have our assumptions and neither can be confirmed. No use arguingover it.
