hunter orange.

[Chevusa]

Uh, NO, IT'S NOT. The OLD rule is geared toward youth hunters. It applied to youth hunters and their mentors. This applies to everyone.

Well I guess just hunt on your own property and don’t worry about it.

[Chevusa]

More obtuse justifications.

Turn off Shawshank Redemption and go get some fresh air.

[spat]

I like the idea of safety regs for youth. Just like how kids can’t fly commercial airliners or drive semi trucks.

I think anyone who can demonstrate the necessary skill and maturity should be able to fly commercial airliners and drive semi trucks.

I don't think "years since you were born" is a very useful metric for anything other than life insurance premiums.

Oh bother.

Read up on how the human brain works and it’s relevance to age and sound decision making. Then circle back.

Huh ?

Yep, while there is a correlation, it is not strong enough to justify using it as a metric.

Most 40 year olds today do not have the maturity of a 15 year old of 100 years ago.

Hell, many aren't even at the level of a 10 year old.

That is because we are no longer raising kids to become adults, we are attempting to keep them perpetual children.

There are an awful lot of 30 year olds without the maturity to do either of those jobs. That makes it a useless metric.

I like being responsible for my children. I will teach them what they need in life about being a good man and a good citizen. I do not need the .gov to watch over my young.

[Darth]

More extremism and hysteria.

Dude you just defended fashion police.

Your telescreen messing with your brainwaves?

Unfortunately that’s the exception not the rule.

If the government would get out the way, more parents might step up a bit more.

Basic safety equipment for youth is fashion police now? You’ve already stated your “every law is unconstitutional” liberation extremist view. There is no common ground to be reached with an extremist such as yourself. I’m sorry your views lead to non stop disappointment for you. It must be tough. Not sure how you keep it up. You’d think a simple one like wear orange so you don’t accidentally get shot would be an easy one to start with. You can lead a horse to water…

[Darth]

You’d think a simple one like wear orange so you don’t accidentally get shot would be an easy one to start with.

This is the crux of the problem. You would think that. We know.

And yes, I'm extreme AF. You might even say revolutionary.

Having extreme ideas that nobody else backs doesn’t make you a revolutionist.

He is not alone in many of them.

In this thread the people who agree with you appear to be the minority.

[SomeSoldier]

Every traffic sign and every traffic light can be interpreted as government intrusion on freedom. Take them all down and see what happens.

You have one of those traffic lights in your driveway?

[Chevusa]

Do you know what a revolution is? Ideas that go nowhere do not qualify.

Wjat do they disagree with meon? I said it shouldn’t be a law but rather included in basic safety classes and publications. I said if you don’t want to then don’t. Not much of anything can or will happen to you from the perspective of the state. It doesn’t warrant this many pages. Absent extremist the sky is falling bluster, there is little to discuss in the matter.

So it shouldn't be a law, but it so obviously should be a law that even little old extremist me should agree with it being a law.

Got it.

[Mosinitis]

Traffic signs and traffic lights are on public property, but I am forced to abide by them through punishment. It's not optional, it's mandatory. That's the intrusion most rational people will accept, even if they don't always abide by them.

It's reasonable for the government to mandate behavior as a condition of using public property that would not be reasonable for them to mandate universally.

For instance a speed limit on a public highway, but not a private race track.

So if I have private hunting land, why should I have to abide by these laws on my property?

Because bullets don't stop at the property line.

Nor do cars.

Cars with drivers in them do.

[Chevusa]

Imagine having nothing going on where you have the time and energy to get all worked up over hunters having to wear the orange clothes they already own and have been wearing anyway.

Definitely a non-issue.

[Vapor]

It's drawing the ire because its required. Like I will wear my seat belt becuase I'm a logical person, yet it irks me that the "better thans" require me to wear them or else men in informs will come fine me, or worse.

It's the whole "if it pleases the crown" paradigm.

Yet it does not shock me this is not understood.

If it truly is just a recommendation, or only required on state land, then it's reasonable (as a recommendation, even prudent).

But people who would be upset at it being mandatory are absolutely right to do so, and the people who aren't are being the epitome of FUDDs.

So, if you aren't upset by the concept, then I hope your stay in the people's republic of Fuddistan is comfortable.
