Not sure that is the case anymore. I assumed they were arming Iran in the beginning but now I'm thinking there were behind the curtain deals made with China and Russia before this all started. I would have expected stronger reactions from them both when this all started but they've been pretty quiet. Just a feeling, nothing else to back up these thoughts.

They need ships and goods moving through the straight of Hormuz like yesterday. This crap is going to kill our side in the next election Dulce if prices don’t come down. Gas staying high will cause prices to rise and then we lose.
It's not just gas at the pump. Its shipping costs, those get passed on. Plastics too. Plastics mostly come from oil. Most of the things you buy that are imported have plastics in them. Less oil to Asia = higher plastic prices for their manufacturing = higher prices on goods in general.

They are the not only the first but the only two ships that were dispatched through the Strait
These are warships and the last I checked we had no minesweeper task vehicles in the theater and expected allies to step up to the plate for locating and addressing mines.
Our military is actually pretty light in equipment. We essentially decommissioned our fiberglass / wood sweepers and have less than two dozen Aluminum LCS (half in FL and half in CA)
The warships in the Strait are more likely a taunt to Iran (and a message to allies) while tossing down a gauntlet.

I never said that there are minesweepers in the Strait. I posted a tweet that said the 2 US warships that have traversed the Strait are part of a broader mission to clear the Straight of the Sea mines. lol

I was not trying to correct you, just highlighting that Cent Com and the West Wing credited these warships as an effort for clearing the shipping channel of mines (and they are not.) They are not a tool for that effort, they are nasty ass warships sending a message to Iran and our lazy ass so called allies who actually have minesweepers at their disposal.

Well, they sailed both ships all the way through, so they know there *is* a path through.
I'm sure the strait is lousy with mines, but if there's one known good path, you can start moving ships.
Even if they have to follow the destroyers out single file.

They are the primary modules for the LCS fleet (short of the old school helicopter towed sleds like we used in Vietnam) who are not in the theater yet. The aluminum hull Littoral Class ships need, in part, to use these more remote unmanned drone tools since the mother ships are not as robust as the more traditional shock hardened hulls . I believe we were expecting Allies (some of whom have bought our equipment) to step up and clear the 6 mile wide channel.
