Fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breath. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see the following outcome:
- Capacity bans legal
- Can't ban rifles by type/name, but can ban them by "evil features"

They will come through. We will win it. If we don’t win it every gun will be banned by name or type moving forward in some states. It’s the most popular weapon in America.
My guess is this will open the door to permits like handguns where everyone you own is listed.

This is very likely going to be the most important 2a case of our lifetimes.
It demands very close watching and scrutiny. This is the single best chance we have to finally once and for all have protected rights.
If not...well at least we know where we stand and what the national outlook is and everyone needs to make their own decisions before the 4th box.

Before the ban I never owned an MSR. When this is overturned I probably wont get one.
But, I became a member of GOA right after the ban in 2013. Then I joined the FPC directly because of rifle bans.
I have followed the court cases, and have prayed this day would come.
If this goes our way, nothing changes for me. But im here for it!

We will see, but NY already has a law requiring a semi auto rifle permit that scotus alr3ady said is ok.. so, maybe full featured rifles will be legal here, but it will be registered the same as a handgun or else!

Odds are they will strike down the particular ban this case is about, but do it in a way that lower courts can interpret the result however they want when it comes to other bans.
"This ban is ruled unconstitutional on the basis that the governor who enacted it wasn't wearing the official state beanie when he signed the bill, we have not evaluated any other aspects of the law".

Yup, pretty much what I was getting at. The laws they're looking at specifically target named weapons. They might declare that to be unconstitutional, but will almost certainly be completely silent about "evil features."
Unfortunately you are correct but the more blocks that keep getting made are eventually going to make them run out of steam.

They will for sure play with some shenanigans and pass laws just to screw with us. I think there will be a permitting process and listing of each “assault weapon” on that permit like we do with pistols. Time will tell.
Syracuse news about the father who was in Fla. at the time, is going to prison every week end and has to wear a monitor. Due to having an assault weapon stored on site, but not used by his adult son who killed 2 cops. They have the dead cops dad reading about his thoughts and how the father of the dead perp. didn't show remorse 2 yrs. later when he got shafted for having the black gun in his house.

OK so on a serious note, SCOTUS decisions apply to all circuit courts and states. Meaning the AR15 in Texas is the "in common use" argument and would be common use weapon for NY that they will have to abide by. Not their featureless undefined vague BS that is left up to the citizen to define and the state won't answer questions on it. Will they abide by a positive ruling for the citizen and 2A? No. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. That is Albany's plan for any decision from SCOTUS that ruins their laws. It is what happened after Bruen after all. A new law created to run up the chain of courts. At the very best, NY might reopen its AW registration followed by annual fees, registrations... blah blah blah BS like with handguns.
To stop this wash, rinse repeat BS, the DOJ needs to file a civil rights law suits. Winning them would bring punitive damages and fines leveled at NY govt.

I'm not a fan of the term common use. It will be Hochul determining what is common in NY. Surely the AK, H&K, and other foreign makes wont make the cut.

...The question is Has there ever been a device made to make an AR-15 go full auto. ? Just a yes or no answer is fine. My thinking is if a state can ban a glock for that reason then no matter what the supreme court says ..... A state will use the same reasoning for an AR-15 ban also.

Not a device as easy as the switch. Holes need to be drilled and material needs to be removed from the receiver to make them full auto from what I’ve heard.Folks I am not up on this stuff . The cruciform trigger is unique in that by default it’s set up to be full auto. The only reason it’s not is because semi auto versions make this trigger var pop up into the firing mechanism preventing the gun from firing again. The Glock switch pushes the trigger bar back down preventing it from coming back and engaging the firing mechanism again.
Also remember of a state bans these guns that doesn’t mean it will pass muster in the Supreme Court. The court could address both at the same time with this case. Remember it’s not the type of gun that’s illegal it’s the modifications being done to them. The SC could squash both and should. I suspect they will, but maybe I’m being optimistic. If not any and all guns could be banned.

The "common use" term is one of the arguments before SCOTUS against the bans. Not a definition to be determined by the State. That is not what the court is deciding. Now this could cause an issue when laser weapons, plasma rifles and other future technology in weapons development comes along and States are proactive in banning them before the get to common use levels. I'm sure NY and others will ban scope technology that turns overweight barely able to walk or puny barely average flat range shooters into the dreaded Special Operations sniper.
