Russia Hits Kiev Ammo Dump Next To Homes; Ukraine Admits 90% Of Retail Food Logistics Wrecked

A Russian drone struck a Ukrainian Defense Forces ammunition storage site in the village of Myla Friday evening, just west of Kiev. The resulting fire and hours of secondary detonations killed at least 37 people, injured dozens more, damaged around 50 residential buildings and a care home for the elderly and disabled, and forced the evacuation of hundreds. Among the dead was the local community head who had gone to help.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the placement of a weapons depot next to civilians was "terrible negligence." The first impact, he said, hit a depot storing shells, mines, other munitions, and drones that "definitely shouldn't have been there" - while prosecutors in Kiev opened a criminal investigation into the legality of storing explosives next to civilian housing. This is the second such incident in two months. A July strike on a depot in nearby Vyshneve produced similar secondary blasts, deaths, and later detentions of state defense-company executives.

Friday night's blast came amid a multi-day Russian campaign of jet-powered drones and missiles that has produced near-continuous air-raid alerts over Kiev and hit warehouses belonging to supermarket chains, postal operators, retailers, and logistics firms. Ukraine Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi told reporters that, "roughly speaking," about 90% of the food-logistics infrastructure used by major retail chains (large distribution centers serving networks such as Fora, Silpo, NOVUS, and Varus) has been destroyed. That said, Vysotskyi insists this won't result in famine - as chains are switching to more expensive direct-from-producer "on wheels" deliveries. Yet, stores in Kiev are reporting empty shelves for produce, dairy, and staples.

Zelensky just announced, Ukraine is planning to shut down all commercial aviation over Russia by attacking foreign and domestic airliners with drones.
Putin responded by saying, we don't negotiate with terrorists and we will find a way to retaliate accordingly.
This comes after Ukrainian failed 40 day attack on Russian infrastructure to force Russia to freeze the conflict, which also opened the door for more devastating Russian attack on Ukrainian infrastructure and backfired on Ukraine in a big way.

BULLSHIT!

He announced in a public address that airspace over Russia will be effectively shut down by Ukrainian drones. After drawing International outrage he walked it back by conflicting statements on social media. There were hundreds of Ukrainian drones per day flying into Russia already for months. There would be no point in making this announcement, unless it SPECIFICALLY THREATENED COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT.

Posting articles where someone tells you what someone else said isn't making the point you want.

I could post an article where someone claims Putin said they are going to prioritize Ukrainian kindergartens as targets, but that doesn't make it true.

What actual words did Zelensky say ? Not someone's "interpretation", not a paraphrase, but the actual words.

Because relying on "news" sources that told us all that Trump said to drink bleach and called Nazi's fine people is not convincing.

"Today, we want to warn every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurer and everyone who still uses Russia's key airports: Russian airspace is becoming completely unsafe," Zelensky said in his nightly address.

"Ukraine does not threaten civilian aviation as such -- not a single civilian aircraft. There will simply be drones in Russia's skies on a scale that has to be taken into account,"

"We in Ukraine do not want innocent lives to be lost. That is why we are warning our partners: the safe days in Russia's skies are over,"

Warning that civilian aircraft will not be safe from Ukrainian drones is terrorist threat. It is worded to sound more digestible, but still a terrorist threat.

All terrorist threats are accompanied by justification and blame shifting statements. It's a standard operating procedure for all terrorist organizations.

Leonoid, Please take a deep breath and show us exactly where Bloomberg reported (and you claimed) Zelensky said "Ukraine is planning to shut down all commercial aviation over Russia by attacking foreign and domestic airliners with drones."

Still don't see where Bloomberg shows those words came from Zelensky as you claim. So I checked with AI.

Again, AI

Safety, Not Targeting:
Zelenskyy explicitly stated that Ukraine does not target civilian aviation. Instead, the risk is mathematical: putting hundreds or thousands of long-range drones over a country every night makes it impossible to guarantee a clean corridor for passenger flights. [1, 2]

When Bloomberg and RT are reporting the same thing. The case is closed. Keep grasping at straws, which Zelensky threw to you and sink.

BBC:

Ukraine's president has told airlines that Russian airspace will be "effectively closing" as his country escalates its drone strikes.

"We want to warn every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurer, everyone who still uses key Russian airports: the Russian sky is becoming completely dangerous," Volodymyr Zelensky said. Ukraine has since formally notified the UN of the risks to civilian aviation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the comments amounted to a "declaration of state terrorism".

Most Western commercial airlines do not fly over Russia because of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, but carriers in countries like Turkey and China do.

Explaining the elevated airspace risk in his nightly video address on Tuesday, Zelensky said that "Ukraine does not threaten civilian aviation as such - not a single civilian aircraft" and did not want the loss of innocent lives.

"There will simply be drones in Russia's skies on a scale that has to be taken into account," he said.

Zelensky directed the warning to airlines continuing to operate flights to Russian airports, especially in major cities like St Petersburg and Moscow.

In a statement on X, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Ukraine had officially notified the International Civil Aviation Organization that Russian airspace was not safe for civilian aviation.

Zelensky says airlines should avoid Russian airspace as Ukraine escalates drone operations

Chinese and Gulf state airlines are among those still using Russian airspace. Meanwhile, Russia says it will intensify its own attacks on Ukraine.

If this was your friend, you might say he is giving fair warning and the skys over Russia are to dangerous for commercial flights due to military activity. ( and it could be)

But if this is your enemy, it appears as a veiled threat to deter commerical flights from certain areas that maybe bringing in food or even weapons disguised as commercial aircraft ( dont know). dont know why warnings weren't given before . but Even if it wasnt meant to be a threat it would be interpreted as a veiled threat by your enemy .

Any commercial flights would now have to take the warning seriously and avoid those places to avoid an ""accident"" which would surely happen Ukraine has established plausible deniability in the event of any ""accident"" that involves a commercial flight.

The Russians may be flying in missiles from the Urals or from China or N Korea using commercial planes as disguise, knowing Ukraine wont shoot them down . We dont know all the facts . Again I dont see Ukraine targeting legitimate commercial flights for no military gain , especially when they are running low on drones and missiles

just another one of those facts, which can be interpreted differently by the context in which you see it.

The Kyiv Independent

5h ·
A shootout between two branches of Ukraine's security services broke out on the morning of Sept. 2 during an investigation into an alleged Russian terrorist plot against a Russian opposition figure.
Earlier, a source in Ukraine's Defense Forces told the Kyiv Independent that the target of the plot was Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC) that fights alongside Kyiv.
He had been in Ukraine for Independence Day celebrations on Aug. 24 but was "abducted by unknown individuals in the courtyard of his home," the RVC wrote on Telegram on Sept. 1.
As authorities announced that the alleged plot had been thwarted, reports of a shootout in Kyiv began to emerge.
According to Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office, Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) officers were attacked by "one of the units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine" while conducting an investigation into the alleged plot.
"During the investigative actions in the proceedings regarding the terrorist act of the FSB of the Russian Federation, an armed attack occurred on SBU officers," it said in a post on Telegram.
"During the cessation of armed resistance, law enforcement officers used weapons," it added.
Speaking to journalists, Presidential Adviser Dmytro Lytvyn said the two units involved were the SBU and Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR).
A lawyer acting on behalf of Kaplunov told Ukrainian TV that three people had been injured during the shootout.
He added that President Volodymyr Zelensky had "called out" the heads of both and ordered them to inform the public about what was happening.
President's Office Head Kyrylo Budanov called for a "thorough and impartial investigation," RBC Ukraine reported.
Violent incidents involving HUR and the SBU are rare but not unheard of.
