Supreme Court upholds regulation on “ghost guns”

This article was updated on March 26 at 2:04 p.m. The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a Biden-era rule regulating so-called “ghost guns” – untraceable weapons without serial numbers, assembled from…

Ghost Guns are regulated.

Many parts sellers will not send to NYS due to James.

That's nor regulation. That's extortion by the state of politically disfavored businesses.

Some kits are regulated. Though P80 got screwed. Their designs were all approved by the ATF.

In many free states and at the federal level it is still legal to build and make your own privately made unserialized firearm as long as you have no intent to sell it at the time of making.

Currently where tech stands you can 3D print a frame or 3D print and manufacture an entire firearm at home - check out the FGC-9. Most states it is legal to do so.

Doing it in NY is a no no.

Jury finds Albany man guilty on all counts in ghost gun case

The jury deliberated for around two hours before returning its verdict.

"Daga showed off a 3D-printed lower receiver for a handgun he had been working on. Those receivers, which enable guns to fire, are highly regulated and must have serial numbers that are on file in state and federal databases."

I'm pretty sure that's not true, here in free America. Sucks for that guy.

I comply in NYS.........................had some ghosts when legal, but got em exorcised years ago...they exist no more.

They can come and inspect anyone at just about anytime, especially if you have a small medical emergency, and call 911..................the whole world then enters your home. I had a late daughter fall down the stairs, was choppered out....NYS Police, Country Sheriffs, firemen, Ambulance personnel all poking around. She survived.

"How to enjoy Thanksgiving and Xmas in prison, comes automatically on the NYS, ghost gun assembler's, kit instruction sheet."

"Shoudda gotten a CCP".....................

Pissing into the wind, living in fear, thinking that you are the boss, like the French Resistance, is just not worth it.

I am staying in NY, and shooting my legally registered AW's............just got my recert.

I would never own a glock, or type, under any circumstance.

I think unserialized guns are more common than you might believe. I have at least a half dozen older shotguns and rifles that have no serial number. From manufacturers like Fox, Springfield, and Mossberg. Were those companies not big enough ?

Savage made Fox and Springfield so no surprise that they did the same thing. Its interesting that they also owned Stevens which used serial numbers on many models but I guess Savage did the same on their line, no rhyme or reason. My point was Remington, S&W, Colt, Winchester, Ithaca, Marlin, Browning and many others were using serial numbers more often than not. Savage was a powerhouse making a ton of guns branded 10 different ways, a lot of non serialized is going to be from that family.

Unserialized AR's and Glocks, were not made by Stevens in the 1900's's forward, but by "Steve", a guy who lives in fear of his parts purchases.

NYS is not a gun friendly state................adapt and live, until things change.

Even if the SCOTUs manages to free up AW's in NYS, you will still need a CCP in NYS, and each handgun and rifle must still have a serial #.

SOB!!! That can't be true...........sure is.

Conviction of Possession of any "ghosts" in NYS, even after a AW victory, would be tragic indeed, as your friends buy AW's while you watch them thru you jail cell bars.

The Ghost Gun decision has already been rendered, and NYS can keep banning them until the end of time.

Some people just like pissing into the wind and pretending that Ghosts are normal and they are invulnerable, due to some original sovereign citizen rights.

Get your car inspected every year do you?, Pay your property taxes?

"sell outs."

A few friends of mine children recently said they wanted to join the FBI. I said great, just delete my name from their list because you know me and I’m not a threat to anyone. They laughed, I was entirely serious.

This. I have it on good authority all their investors are doing for the last few years is taking away legal gun owners guns. I know someone who has turned down promotions with the state police for this very reason. I believe them 100%.

You post on this board.

Depending on how bad things get that may get you a visit.

Maybe you'll even be deemed "not trustworthy enough" and lose all your stuff too.

But, sure, just keep pushing the "follow the rules and behave yourself" ideology, that's always worked out for the best.

Ummmm... NYS Motor Vehicle Inspector here. They are ABSOLUTELY necessary independent of the gubbment control.
Unfortunately people can't be trusted to keep their vehicles safe. They treat them like refrigerators and just get in and drive. If you had any idea what is probably hurtling around at 90mph next to you on the highway your head would probably explode. So in that aspect, the control is necessary

You do know that other states manage just fine without that, right ?

No inspection here in AZ at all (outside of Tucson and Phoenix residents anyway).

We have a ton of vehicles driving here on Sonora, Mexico plates too. More than you'll see Canadian plates in western NY.

The roads aren't death traps, and things run just fine without the government sticking their noses in there constantly.

NYSI regulations are pretty lenient. 2/32" for tires and metal to metal for brakes. The emissions side has notning to do with safety.

Not to mention theyre watching us on camera while doing it. I always flip the camera skyward after the facial recognition is over.

Yeah great and I guarantee there are cars that have no business being on the road. It's $21 once a year to make sure your car isn't falling apart. Not a big ask. Especially if you've seen the cars I have seen over the years. Sure there are obviously a lot more requirements these days regarding emissions, but if you are determined there are certainly ways around that. Do you really think all those Challengers, Chargers, Camaros and rowdy CTS-Vs are all emissions compliant? As far as dwa12479 said, I also think that there are some instances where regulations should be stricter. especially when it comes to tires here in WNY. Saying brakes can be metal to metal is absolutely untrue. So if you're doing inspections, you're doing it wrong.
