Preet says: "No, I'm not resigning..."

Typical of our government these days. I'd like to believe that this situation is merely an oversight by Trump's staffers and that Bahara got lumped in with the rest of the US Attorneys. Time will tell. Bahara has been very tough on the Hasidim in our community and has uncovered voter fraud and...

Rochester area worst power outage in over a decade

If you want to safely back feed get an interlock kit. We converted cooking, clothes drying and water heating to propane over 20 years ago. That left us with an unused 30 amp dryer outlet. Our electrician replaced that outlet and changed the breaker. Manual Transfer Switch Kits | Generator...

Buds Now Shipping Ammo to New York!!!!

I bought a 450 Bushmaster upper from GrabAgun...cheapest price on the internet. Bought some small parts too...the shipping for the small parts was very reasonable unlike some of the more familiar online retailers. Dan

    Rifles and LEO

I can't tell you what the SORT boys (and one girl, former Army D.I.) did during training. They were the darlings of Executive Staff and had a pretty decent budget, so I wouldn't be surprised if they trained full auto. I trained 3 round burst with the Colt Sub initially and then qualifications...

    Rifles and LEO

Not SWAT trained. Our boys in black (SORT) had HK's...we peons were relegated to M16-A2's and then the Colt Subs for special occasions. Dan

    Rifles and LEO

No subs...just semi auto carbines. Let the SWAT boys handle the full auto toys. Dan

    Rifles and LEO

We used to have Colt 9mm subs where I worked for special situations. After qualifying with them for many years, I can't help but think that the average LEO would be better served by having a carbine as a primary weapon rather than a pistol. Carbines are easier to shoot accurately and their...

    Tools for AR Build/Armorer Kit

    Pink AR 15

I thought it would be funny to put a pink AR together. I mean, how can it look scary to people. Most folks would think it was a toy. So if some non-firearm/ hunting types saw me with it hunting they wouldn't freak out. Blaze orange furniture may have the same effect and be more masculine for...

New option for 'fixed mag' SAFE Act?

I'll buy one of these set ups and try it out on my featureless rifle. If it works I'll lose the Thordsen on my bull barreled AR15 and get a pistol grip and one of those Magpul adjustable sniper stocks. Dan

Opinions on Budget Ar-15 Trigger Groups?

You don't or need to go any further than that Hiperfire EDT3 for around 95 bucks. I just put one in a 450 Bushmaster build and it's plenty nice for a hunting trigger. I'm very happy with it. I have the Hirpertouch 24E (around $200) as well, on a bull barreled 223 Wylde. That's an excellent...

    Lever action deer rifle?

I second this. I have a BLR in 358 Win and love it. It's light weight and very fast cycling. With select handloads it can rival the accuracy of some bolt actions. Dan

Need Ideas - AR In Caliber Greater than .223

The Sharps company won't ship to anyone in NY. My buddy tried to buy an upper from them. They told him they wouldn't even ship to an FFL...just a gunsmith. They came right out and said they don't want to do business in NY. So my buddy just ordered a 6.8 from Stag. Screw Sharps. Dan

New year, New Rifle. What caliber?

I was loading the old 225 Nosler Ballistic tip at around 2600 fps. It was an easy inch and a half at 100 yds with peep sights. My 358 is a BLR that I have scoped (which my aging eyes appreciate). I use a 200 grain interlock at 2450 fps. It's a great whitetail and black bear round ( I've...

New year, New Rifle. What caliber?

The 358 Winchester is a greatly under appreciated round. I've been very happy with mine. I previously had a 35 Whelen in an 1895 Browning. Had a 30-06 rebored. Too much gun for the whitetail hunting that I do. I'd sit in my tree stand with the rifle on my lap and let the deer pass by because I...

    New Colt Revolver

For a short period of time Colt did make a 357 Detective Special. Perhaps it was in the early 1990's and production numbers were low. In Colt's infinite wisdom they discontinued manufacturing it. All the reviews in the gun mags were stellar. Dan

    Henry AR7 Survival Rifle

The old AR-7 magazine ads did show pics of the rifle floating assembled. Buttstock up, muzzle facing down. As a matter of fact there is a pretty good article in this month's "American Rifleman" that has that old ad in the article. It's an excellent read and details the rifles history. Dan

    Henry AR7 Survival Rifle

I have an older Charter Arms AR-7 that I purchased around 1983 or so. I probably only shot a couple of hundred rounds through it and I can't recall it malfunctioning. Accuracy was much better than I anticipated but you won't be winning any shooting matches with it. It is a survival rifle. It...

    Powder choice for .223

IMR 8208 XBR is really accurate with 55 and 69 gr precision loads for me. Does great with 55 gr ball too. I couldn't get CFE 223 to shoot as accurately as I wanted. Those are the only two powders I've tried so far. Dan

    .357 Magnum for Deer Hunting

Deer are tougher than humans. I think I would use a 158 grain or heavier cast lead bullet. You'll get full penetration which means a decent blood trail. The Barnes 140 grain that was previously suggested sounds good too. That's the best of both worlds. Dan
