Thanks, buddy. Lotta work in it. The machine work for it to fit an AR was already there, so I can't take credit for that, but I did reshape it, inlayed the sling base, and finished it to match the forend.
Working on it has been good for my bad left wing, too. Win/win.
Yupper. I'm in love with the wood, and the way it turned out. The short LOP/soft rubber pistol brace is surprisingly comfortable on my shoulder, too, (when I CAN shoulder it, that is!)
Small update. Been trying to find a gold trigger assembly because I think it would look really good with the brass sling stud base on the bottom of the pistol grip.
Someone made a great suggestion, that a pistol grip firearm should have a cross-bolt safety near the trigger, instead of the...
You're exactly right. No one single thing proves Q is a legit group out to do good. Nothing.
You can follow it, or not. That's everybody's choice. And I'm not here to prove any claims, either. Even though I made some above, with my opinions.
The real, underlying beauty of Q group is the...
And just for a little perspective on what's going on behind the scenes, here's a print out from Jordan's Levin interview way the hell back in 2018.
The press is just now reporting on John Durham stepping in, but he's BEEN in this for well over a year now.
LOTS going on behind the scenes...
Secret service has been just about cleared out, I think. First to go started the cleanse, Alles. He brought in Jimmy Murray to run it. He's swapping folks around and letting guys go to clean house.
All of these department head changes Trump makes absolutely BAFFLES the career politicians, on...
It was the military that convinced him to run, and the reason he trusts and uses the NSA, (military), instead of trusting/exploiting the FBI & CIA, (5th column), which were corrupt, but are coming around.
Here's a little Q vid to put you at ease. If you look at all that's happened to this once...
I tweeted this a while ago. This guy John Barnwell is great to follow. 5eyes intelligence was used by Obummer to circumvent normal US channels, (5eyes is the nickname for the collective of US, Canada, UK, New Zealand, and Australia, who all share intelligence. Obummer weaponized it against...
Thanks, guys. Means a lot. I did most of this one-handed.
I think I might try making this. It would balance the wood a bit, and lighten it, too. Might make it more nose heavy, but I used to like that in trap/skeet guns, especially autos. Seemed to keep the nose down better for follow ups...
Well, I used what I had on hand. Did you see my post on page 2 about the wood dowel idea?
Good thing is that nothing is permanent. I can change it any time I want, right? Lol.
I'm not following you.
This is the brace. Except for the strap and an insert near the butt end, it's all rubber.
Or did you mean like this, were I replace the buffer tube with wood, and keep the rubber SB Tactical S.O.B brace?
Thanks Kirk , Chuck. Just trying something different. Always loved the look of old gun wood. Still got a bit more to do til it's 'done'.
I'm probably one of the few brace users who actually need a brace!
Playing around with replacing the standard AR steel buffer tube with a walnut dowel finished to match.
Ignore the diagonal grain, it's a pic of a table leg pic I found online. I'd use a straight walnut dowel with tight, straight grain. (The brace is a Tailhook).
Thoughts?
I bought a brand new Mossberg Shockwave 12g with our tax return check. I love it, but I was SO disappointed in Mossberg's delicate flat blue finish, I distressed it.
Now I don't worry about scratching it anymore.
The build thread:
My Shockwave brace thread
It was necessary for him to go now, same as with Sessions. Neither can testify in the upcoming swamp-draining while being in office.
Opinions of him and Sessions, (and a few others), will change once this is done.
Simple. When Trump finally starts locking up the swamp for their crimes, they can yell, "HE'S PICKING ON A POLITICAL OPPONENT!!".
No other reason other than self preservation.
Thanks. It's making a silk purse out of a sow's ear, I know. But I was so disappointed in Mossberg's delicate flat blue finish, I wanted to be able to actually USE the damn thing without worrying about it.
It's not done yet, but here's a few more pics.
And these were some of the...
Some 0000 steel wool + elbow grease = heavy use.
This is just oiled to shine it up for the pics. It's actually much duller in person. I'm considering some kind of wax for the flat blue finish. Took the high gloss off the wood, too.
A little more eye candy before the distressing begins.
And this last pic I made to show how this particular pistol brace handles recoil so well, even shooting hot slugs.
Holding it a little higher on your shoulder does two things, allows the brace to flex, and also aligns your eye...
Here's my next project. A reshaped raptor grip with an end cap that resembles an elingated pistol grip stock mod. Instead of screwing the grip onto the back, I'm gonna try blind bolting it from the inside so there's no huge gaping hole in the back.
Gotta keep the 26" length, but it should be...
Ok, the finish.
The theme of this Shockwave build is, 'tough love'. We all have that one gun. Grampa's old model 70 with the deer blood on the butt, or the old side-by-side double that you bought in high school. Maybe the .38 special your dad carried in that patent leather service holster.
It's...
Yup, Ed's correct
It's still over 26", (ATF says that's the magic length making it not concealable).
It's still never had a stock attached.
The length of pull is below 13½", (ATF's opinion of over that being a stock, not a brace).
4. You can buy them this way right from the manufacturer now.
I saw the, 'SOG', and thought, 'Special Operations Group', and almost ran outa the room!
No more of THAT, thank you! I paid my dues.
Thanks for the kind words.
And this is the kind of wear I'm talking about. Not finding fault, just pointing it out. These bright spots showed up on a well-oiled gun after 50 rounds, and a few trial racking of the slide.
Rather than fight this wear, I'm going with it by distressing the entire gun to sort of camouflage it...
The pistol grip.
Here's where I really struggled. Not the actual work, that was easy. It's the style or shape of the grip that I struggled with. Here are concept images I made on my phone with Picsart. (Scale and angles are off a bit, as well as sizes. Also, these images show the Ergo stock...

On to the wood.
I really love the look of old reddish golden brown gun stocks. Same for corncob forends. A nice, soft sheen. Black, grease or oil filled dents, splits, and cracks are beautiful to me. I don't have the years left or the patience to wait for new wood furniture to get that way, so...
Quick update. Took a lotta trial & error, but I got the texture right. It's now smooth like the receiver. Color's close enough. Once everything is distressed and oiled, it'll be pretty close.
Ok, the stock adapter, (or should I say brace adapter).
First one I considered was the Ergo stock adapter. It's lighter than the one I used, because it's plastic. It also has more drop than the one I used. Those may be preferences for others, though...
