I'm looking for a range for more practice at closer ranges. i would definitely make the trip for 1,000 yards, but i do much more shooting inside of 300 yards, and i would really like a plinking range that allowed me to fire more than 1 round every 3 seconds. a monthly 1 hour trip to the 1,000...
I respectfully disagree. IMO although the "marketing" of this is "less smoke cloud and a quieter muzzle loader" i believe it's real purpose is not to be a great gun, but to be a great advertisement and tool to make the use of suppressors in America much more mainstream by demonstrating how...
They are releasing a 2nd updated version of their full size frame, it is designed much like their compact version, not ugly as hell like their first one was, and will have metal slide rails as well. i think it is coming out this fall.
for full length dies it is simple, (i use a case gage to set up the dies), have your sinclair or le wilson case gage clean and dry, make sure the die is clean and you are not overlubing the case, install the die in the press so that when the ram is at it's highest point of travel it just touches...
so obviously this is a legal to own non nfa firearm due to the definitions provided by the nfa. therefore it is good to go in NYS. would this not mean that something like an AR-15 receiver with a pistol brace and barrel over 16" in length, and an Overall length greater than 26" would be...
i have only used mine for practice and courses, (will eventually get into 3-gun), but i have the mookie war rig light from SOE (the all pals webbing version, if i werew to buy it again i would get the 8 mag version). it is a nice rig, has held up great and has plenty of room to lay it out...
i have some extra tn arms co lowers sitting around that i am looking to clear out.
they are polymer lowers with brass inserts for the buffer tube and grip screw threads. i have built 3 rifles with them and they work fine.
i have a few different colors FDE, Black, magpul stealth gray.
price...
well, i have the rifle assembled (bolt, firing pin, etc... will all be here this week). if it runs supersonics i will keep it just for a fun plinker, (maybe even a hunting rifle depending on what is available for ammo). i will try subs just to see how bad the functionality is. if it doesn't...
i could sit here and try to argue the merits of a piston gun, quoting the internet bs of "hurr durr...shits where it eats...durr", but i'm not going to make excuses. tbh i just like pistons better ever since i got my lwrc. and I am a glutton for punishment.
over the last week i took advantage of some good sales and pieced together everythin i need for a nice .300BLK rifle:
aero precesion M4E1 upper with 15" m-lok hand guard
kak industry 16" carbine gas 416r barrel (1 in 8" twist)
larue mbt-2s trigger
cmc lpk w/o fcg
anderson mfg "mil-spec"...
my father had a bro-15 that we made compliant, was a good rifle, excellent fit and finish on the receivers. we never put anything but iron sights on it so i can't speak for accuracy, but i never had a problem hitting out to 300 yards with it.
as for barrel length: 18" isn't going to shoot...
if you want to use it to teach him how to shoot i would recommend a multi pump pneumatic or a co2 powered gun. break barrels are nice but are hold sensitive and not conducive to learning and practicing marksmanship fundamentals. sig sauer has the mcx line of air rifles (co2 powered, rifled...
i know, but i taught her with my .22lr plinking upper...and as blasphemous as this may seem to some, it has not iron sights on it, just a vortex sparc II.
she enjoyed it so much she decided she wants her own, mission accomplished.
i have back up sights on my rifles for a couple reasons:
-my first rifle came with them
-i did a clone build that required a specific rear sight and i wanted to be as correct as possible
-i want my GF and my future kids to all learn how to use iron sights, (i started her out with a red dot but...
i skip the crimp and i have never had issues shooting from a bench. also i wouldn't bother seating to the cannelure on the hornady 75grain bthp for a couple reasons: the cannelure is pretty high on them, the cannelure is not very defined so i don't think it grips much, and i don't crimp so...
i'm in albany, most of what i buy is online as most of the local shops are priced very high, (a certain group charges 50 bucks for a transfer), i buy in big chain stores when they have good deals. and i made the drive down to Bulletguy in tilson for my last transfer and i wish they were closer...
tnarmsco makes a magpul pink polymer ar-15 lower, i have one, (build for the girlfriend to learn how to shoot with). no issues with it and it was cheap.
aero precision has them for $85 AR15 Stripped Upper Receiver, No Forward Assist - Anodized Black
i've never seen a forged milspec upper fail where a billet one would not.
put your finger in the indented portion of the bolt carrier (where the gas vent holes are) and push it forward. if that doesn't work you either have an out of spec round or a chamber obstruction, in which case pull the charging handle and get the bad round out of there.
my first reloads were those bullets, a federal 205 primer, lake city brass, 22.8 grains of varget. i have shot them out of a 14.7 (pinned to 16") barrel with a 5.56nato chamber 1:7" twist and a 20" 1:8" 5.56 SAM-R barrel. they do very vell out of both, easy to print 4 leaf clovers all day with...
do you have any aero precision M5E1 stainless barreled .308 uppers with gen 2 handgaurds on them?...i need a reason to come down and spend some money. and burn up some of the ammo i have.
save all your brass, i never thought i would get into reloading. I had about 1,200 pieces of once fired lake city 5.56 saved up a couple of years ago when the ammo price jump and subsequent scarcity hit, so i started reloading match grade ammo for less than what i paid for it as loaded plinking...
solution: don't buy cheaply made products from shitty manufacturers.
he clearly points out that the info applies to everyone, especially the "run the heaviest buffer you can" crowd, the purpose of the heavier buffers are to stop carrier bounce for full auto rifles, (which doesn't apply to the...
if you really want some good info, watch this:
but as BG said, standard carbine spring and buffer if you are running a carbine gas system, .223/5.56, with a mil-spec m-16 BCG. if you are building something with a lightweight bolt carrier or anything that might be oddball, you may want to...
this.
the thompson, the grease gun, the sten, m1 carbine, ppsh-41, many others. every military realized that they needed different tools for different types of fighting. especially once the fighting moved to urban areas with lots of cover, buildings, corners, etc...they already figured out...
no, they pay 3000 for an mr556. i would give a kidney up for a select fire 416.
that's an apples to oranges comparison though. the 416 is not designed as a hand crafted art piece, it is designed to work (function over form). while anything from JJFU is form over function, not to say they...
i wasn't implying that he didn't know what he is doing. i'm just watching people defend everything that he does as if he is the holy trinity all rolled into one (eugene stoner, john browning, and hiram maxim) his suppressors probably work well but he claimed that they quiet the report at the...
my case prep process for all brass:
deprime using a universal decapping die (not sure if i have the lee, rcbs, or the lyman)
wet tumble using stainless pins and a harbor freight dual drum rotary tumbler
rinse/separate with rcbs media separator
dry in a harbor freight food dehydrator for...
but that bdc is only dead on and useful for 1 specific setup. and chances are, the rifle you mount that scope to will not be an exact match to the setup. so now you have to do a bunch of testing, collect data and figure out what the BDC holds are actually good for, (which more often than not...
i strongly advise against any BDC type reticle unless it is super specific to your rifle, (such as the ones in an acog or other rco).
look at scopes with mil or moa reticles and make sure they have matching turrets. swfa, primary arms, vortex, burris, etc...all have good quality optics at...
exactly what BG said. 300blk is best suited for being shot suppressed, subsonic, from a short barrel. if you aren't going to do that then the 6.8 is a way better option. also, if you have ever wanted a 6.5grendel AR but were concerned about bolt durability and availability you can reload the...
