The Japanese beetles are terrible this year. I’ve had to make up a mixture of Neem oil and spray three times so far.

My grandkids have pretty much gobbled up all my raspberries and blackberries. The blueberry bushes are still producing very well . I also have a giant Mulberry bush that flowered very heavily the last two weeks so we’re expecting that to produce a bumper crop of berries in a couple of weeks .

You’re right, watermelons aren’t all that easy to grow in my region either. Of all the things that I’ve grown or have tried to grow watermelons and musk melons have given me the most difficulty.

We always try to grow something unique and unusual every year. Last year it was cuckamellons . They pickled well and were a big hit with the family. This year we found and picked lemon cucumbers. So far they are growing like crazy. We’re going to try our first one today.

I’ve got more garlic this year than I know what to do with. I’ll mince a bunch and store it in olive oil but , damn !

I harvested my Garlic yesterday, well most of it anyways. I Still have about a 1/4 of a raised bed to dig up. It grew very well this year.
