This is what my owner manual said about my M&P 22, Kind of tells you right from the start it may be fussy about ammo! It will shoot CCI Mini Mags so I have a good stash of them for this pistol and I only use it for steel challenge.

My M&P 22 is fussy about ammo, but runs CCI Mini Mags without a hiccup! The old Ruger mkll eats anything. So yes try some different ammo CCI is your best bet.

S&W M&P 40/9 conversion, simple barrel change with proper mags I have 2 choices of ammo. Then also my Ruger MKII as it eats any 22lr ammo I feed it!
