When I went to school in ny it started in middle school. Auto shop, wood shop, metal shop, electricity, for the guys home econ for the girls. Big machines that cut off fingers, etc.

What if schools had, call it shop class and home economics, where children could start to learn real skills. Not sure if this could be done, perhaps we could get a grant to study this for 10 years, to see if it could fly.
