I'm surprised I haven't chimed in here yet.
Big fitness freak here. I turn 40 this year and my goal for awhile now has been to look better at 40 than I did at 20. I just have to crank down my drinking and my diet a little better over the next 10 months.
I spend between 90 min to 2 hours in the...
I'm not arguing "can" or "can't". I'm saying we do and always will. It is what it is, but it's not changing and I don't see any negative implications involved at all.
I don't explain it better, I explain it more curtly. lol
The only time I hear this argument is on gun forums. Period.
The word civilian doesn't simply exist as a description opposed to military. Colloquially (holy fuck I spelled that correctly without spell check!), "civilian" is used to...
Still a pipedream. There's no chance of repeatedly finding 12 person juries that will "nullify" any given law. It's impossible. Especially considering how jury selection works.
There's no such thing as "jury nullification". It's the biggest farce going in the liberty movement. I cringe every time I hear it. The jury can find her guilty, not guilty, or cause a mistrial to be declared. That's it. No jury can nullify a law.
Um...
In this very thread there’s a post from me where I said I don’t enforce FUAC’s laws because of Heller. Although the circuit court did uphold Safe, I believe Heller over-rules it (and the Sulllivan Laws).
Also, this thread has nothing to do with Georgia’s laws. Look again...
Uh, duh. And I can only enforce those duly passed by legislative bodies and upheld by courts, which brings us back to the original and only point that matters: the law as defined by Darth holds no meaning at all.
I consider Heller settled law and choose it before NY law whenever necessary. It’s not the same thing because the Supreme Court of the land is higher than NY’s state courts.
Two months ago, a NJ resident walked into our precinct with a handgun to figure out what he needed to do (it left with...
Just as illegal, fine. Just as important, wrong. When Darth defines an oath, it means nothing. When the Supreme Court does, it has meaning. That's the difference here, and it's quite a large one.
Come on now, even you have to know this is phooey.
Don't you always complain about how badly a cop can mess up innocent lives? I mean you believe in like 5 laws and think only citizens can enforce them. That being the case, obviously my robotic, mercenary-like, illegally granted power holds...
People talk about that all the time because they just like to complain about cops. I'm sure there's guys out there who do stuff like that, but bring that explanation to a DA and your arrest is in the trash before you can sign in to court.
I’ve never enforced either of those laws. Well sort of Sullivan, but on people who’ve deserved it.
Sorry, I’ve been clear and consistent: I don’t do hypotheticals. We can talk about the facts at hand that actually happened or you can play imagination with Darth. Not my thing. Not being...
Nothing decided by Darth has the force of law in this country. Relevent to this conversation, what I said was true and always will be. Your definition of any oath, except maybe your D&D club’s, is just yours.
Heller already said that handguns are specifically protected by the 2nd. The Court almost never reverses itself (look it up). So in other words, another pointless hypothetical.
I’m not defending police actions with made up nonsense like you are trying to pick apart police actions, with made up...
Funny, I didn’t mention them. They’re as relevent to my comment as the High Court of Mars which will be invented for real in 300 years or in hypotheticals proving the “slippery slope” right now!
Ridiculous hypothetical and you know that. Making up nonsensical “what ifs” is illogical. That’s internet bs. If the Court make such a decree I’ll invent hyperdrive and travel to Alpha Centuri.
That’s how one should answer reductio ad absurdum. In the real world, we cannot make decisions based...
Don't try to shame him with the Oath. Unfortunately the Supreme Court has upheld gun laws numerous times. Even Heller clearly states that there are limits on the 2nd Amendment (and all Amendments). So by all legal measures, the oaths we take actually include enforcing gun laws at this time.
The...
Yeah, dude it’s easy. I taught myself using youtube. I remember my first time messing with the trigger. That was super no bueno in the Army. The hardest part was overcoming my ingrained aversion to touching those parts. :D
Shooting at cars has been banned since at least 2002 when I went through the Academy...
We always get sold down the river: by the media, our bosses, politicians, cop haters, etc.
The NYPD per “capita” is the least “trigger happy” department in the nation. Not even close. We fire the least...
If you buy it IN the city, the store will fill out the paperwork and send it in. Outside the city it is on you and NO the city will have no clue.
I know plenty of people with pistol permits but no long gun permit. It’s stupid and only enforceable within the city anyway.
NY used to define roommates as “family” under the law but no longer. The Family Court Act defines “family” slightly more complicated but it’s by blood, in-laws (only current inlaws) or former/current sexual relations. That’s it.
The job treats us far worse than civilians. Of course that’s a lie to most here but you and I know the truth. An argument for us will almost definitely result in a loss of guns. But not civilians. One downside of “on the shield” gun “rights”.
I suppose but it sure seems people are STATING that is what will happen, not QUESTIONING whether it will or not. According to RBean, apparently Nassau County cops do this. I can state unequivocally that in the city, one will not lose their guns for an "argument".
Ugh. No. Just no.
Third party calls cannot trigger this absent some crazy evidence found when the cops arrive. "My neighbors are fighting," leading to a knock on the door where both parties say nothing happened will never trigger this.
God I hate to be labeled as the guy who's supporting this (because I know that is how this will be taken) but damn, stop with the fear-mongering. An argument will not lead to guns being taken. There must be more than that. I do this every, single day (there's literally a conversation about an...
“He hit me” immediately triggering an arrest (at least a valid one) is a myth. In NY, we must see injuries or a serious complaint of pain to charge assault. We don’t have misdemeanor battery or whatever some states call it, so a “hit” with no injuries is harassment, a violation, which we don’t...
Not as often as anti-cop people like to claim. Cop’s are way more likely than the general population to get divorced, but the DV rate is about the same.
I’ve been a DV sgt for 2 years in a part of Staten Island populated heavily with cops, firemen, sanitation, etc. I rarely deal with any of...
